Im sure Melo will pick up his shooting here (at least he better) but its his passing that has me concerned the most.
Melo averages the same amount of turnovers as assists (3/3). Thats not good at all compared to his peers. In fact its the worst ratio out of Kobe, LeBron, Wade, JJ, Roy, Monta, Odom, Jax, Manu, Gasol, Dirk, Blake, Josh Smith, Hedo, Tmac, Pierce, Ray Allen, Prince, AK47, Duncan, Horford, Battier, Hill, and pretty much every other top level non PG passer by a good amount. Melo is just on par with guys like Granger, Gay, and Beasley in that area. Durant isnt a great passer either but hes such an efficient scorer, unlike Melo, that he makes up for it.
Couple Melo's passing with Amare's (negative A/T ratio) and who knows how the pair will do. Wed just have to hope they dont get doubled as much as a result and Felton steps up his floor general game to set them up. Right now our team is 23rd in AST% (a better stat than APG given our pace). We're not passing well at all, and Melo wont help much in that area. Hes not a blackhole but hes a turnover machine like Amare is.
Basically we're getting a mediocre at best playmaker and an inefficient scorer. Hey lets just hope hes having a down year though...
Listen I got my beef with Melo but with the rumored deal that way it is I would obviously take it and run. That offer is like the 1st scene in the Dark Knight. We just better make it work. I would feel better about Melo if he was a better passer though, especially since Amare and Felton arent the greatest ones themselves, but oh well.
