Luke RIchardson
Mike Commodore
Andrej Meszaros
Those are their free agents in the offseason. More than likely, that number will go down drastically after they sign some of their players.
EDIT
------
Where did you get this number from?
Right now, they have around $40 million for the cap hit next year. The max it will go up to is $56 million. That's $17 million they have free, not $28.

I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?

That's all I'll do and that equals about 37 million. Your numbers are a tad bit off.

Gerber and emery are likely going to be bought out.
I belive the some of the salary stays with them and who would they bring in? There isn't a great goalie on the market unless they want Hasek again.
Ottawa will bring back Redden for sure and I think that Meszaros, Vermette, Stillman will be back as well.

1)Yes some of the salary does count aginst the cap.It would be a total $2 million.
2)Redden would have to take major pay cut.

If you buy a player out, half their cap hit counts against yours. Taking those 2 away, Ottawa has 33 million for payroll next season (That has in the cap hit against Gerber & Emery plus this number doesn't take into effect any not listed in my original numbers that got 37).
Even with all this money available, Vermette will be re-signed and will get 3-4 million per year based on his numbers and what he does for the team. And what goalie will Ottawa get. There are no good ones that are free agents. They won't buy both out.

I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?

Thank God somebody gets it. The Sens will not clear house for this. I mean what goalie out there thats a UFA will be better then Emery or Gerber? There isn't one, and it isn't worth the money you would have to play him and they buyout for Emery and Gerber. It may end up costing you $10 million for a "upgrade"

1)Most of the ufas will walk if they ask to much.
2)They will likely get a starter via a trade.

They need defensemen and i guess if they wanted Campbell that's fine. But they really need to make sure they shore up the rest of their team so that the big 3 isn't left on their own. Otherwise they'll be exactly like Tampa
Except with better salaries and better production.
