if that's the hold up i expect walsh to fold. for the next 2 years there's not a whole lot of difference between having felton here and having billups here.

I dont know, who replaces Felton? Billups? How much time is left on his contract? If we dont get back Billups who runs the point? TD? We can have melo and amare but without a decent pg, we would be in trouble. Felton has his flaws but it could be worse.

So so far, Fields, Gallo and now Felton are holding up the deal. Who is next Mozzy or TD?

if we trade felton, billups would have to come back.

If Felton was playing like he was during the first couple months of the season, Id say hell no. But now...I'd pull the trigger. Billups is still pretty good and you got the big names coming out after next season.

Billups has a team option next year which is perfect for us.

yep. we're at the point where it's really hard to know exactly what's going on. the good thing is that there does appear to be conversation at least.

I need some clarification.

1) Do people really believe that Gallo is being deemed of more value in NY b/c of Mike D's history with him/his dad?

2) Is there any way to have Gallo still and have an option to get Paul/Williams in 2012?

3a) Is giving up Gallo now (if there is a chance the Melo deal can get done without him) worth maybe getting Paul in another year/year and half?

3b) Would Gallo be the key to getting Paul (along with Felton since apparently we don't want to swap him for Billups) next year in a similar situation to what we are doing with Chandler? (and if that is the case, that explains why we are trying to keep him, as well as why we want to keep Fields, so in the end we actually still have one of the 3.)

4) Is anyone else getting sick of the, "We'll get the next piece next...maybe" thing that's going on?

5) Does anyone put Fields right now in the class of Gallo or WC?

6) Why doesn't a guy like TD, especially if packaged with Walker, garner any value in all this?

Sorry for firing questions, just wanted to get some thoughts on them and didn't think worthy of new threads since it all has to do with the Melo drama or the 2012 plan.

Chandler, Gallinari or Fields, Felton for Melo and Billups. Donnie needs to pull the trigger quick if that's the new offer.

Thats works out great then. I could live with that, provided we can upgrade after we lose Billups.

I don't want Billups old ass no where near the garden. He's already missed games this season and now you're asking him to run up and down the court under D'Antoni? PASS!
If we had a capable backup I wouldn't be so reluctant to trade Felton but we DON'T!

I think the trade is going to revolve around Gallo ....It doesn't make sense for Denver to want Chandler and Fields. Especially Chandler when he's a FA after this season...

My only concern in relation to the "talent and/ bad contracts" that is included in the deal. DOLAN!

If Dolan lets DW do his job I have NO CONCERNS about what we will give up.

I aslo want to mention. IF Dolan is not involved I believe the Minny-Denver-Knick deal is already agreed upon. Unless, Denver feels they can make a play-off run WITHOUT Melo. If they do not believe that. Then they are working on deals for Martin, Billups, and JR Smith. There just isn't enough time to wait until two days prior if you want to moves any of those other guys. It would essentially mean asking the entire league to wait until the last minute. Makes no sense...

Melo's "It's out of my hands" comments represents "good bye" on some level people. This may be annouced by next wed the latest.

you guys know we're gonna get raped by the Lakers even worse tonight now that the players know NOBODY is safe right? It was bad enough Chandler knew he was a dead man walking...now we have to deal with two more young minds in Gallo and Fields (guys who LOVE being Knicks and don't want to be traded) not knowing if their days are numbered or not...this is going to sink us until the 24th.

So be it. These negotiations are bigger than a few games in the season.

For all we know other aspects of the business could be highly profitable and whatever he stands to lose on the Nuggets he is going to take as a loss against his other profits. It could be the other way around and the whole business could be losing money and he is looking for savings here but the reality is we just don't know the truth of it all so I wouldn't make that the central aspect of my argument.

I understand that it's "corporate". It was a general example. The point being, when you look at the financial picture of the "Nugget entity" there is NO OTHER WAY that you will find a 22.3 million dollar valuation. The government is not that forgiving. They like their money. I understand that you like to look at all points of view but you are taking it way too far. Kroenke has a huge sports empire and he didn't get it by being fiscally irresponsible. And in this situation throwing away 22.3 million would be doing just that...

The perfect situation with no money tied up for 2012. This team could make a serious run now and get rid of the wannabe hero Failton
