Post#1 » by Vin20 » Thu Feb 10, 2011 4:01 pm

Today starts the 'Copa del Rey' (King's Cup) 2011. This is considered the best basketball spectacle in Europe (even better than the Euroleague's Final Four according to some players).

Nice to see Claver finally blossoming this year. He certainly took his time, let's see if he can keep giving a good account of himself till the end of the season.

Madrid lucked into some favourable officiating decisions down the clock but they were the better team anyway. It's bizarre Jaycee Carroll isn't in the NBA. He'll be an above average backup guard since day 1. Actually, teams like Miami or LA could use him as their starting PG.

Has Vassiliadis progressed? Or he is still the one dimensional shooter that we know? Did he got better on the D?

From the little bit I saw of the game, he's still very much a shooter and that alone.

MVP: Rafa Martínez. 19pts (5/6 FG, 7/8 FT), 3reb, 2ast, 1stl, 4to in 27min.

Great game also by Nikola Mirotic (15pts, 4reb, 3ast in 22min) and Carlos Suárez (16pts, 1reb, 1ast in 26min). Sergio Rodriguez was fundamental for Real Madrid in the last minutes, you can't see that in stats, though. Check out this crazy pass: http://acbtv.acb.com/video/3595-lacb-20 ... en_la_nuca

Replace Rubio with Huertas and Barcelona is still great (maybe better).
