Considering that he centered the MVP's top line, was on a playoff team and was a beast in the postseason, it might go to him. I hope it does. Hes awesome.

Bleh, whatever. I thought Toews missing time this year would've had Carey in the top three.

I know but the fact that his team made the playoffs with him being a key part of it will have an effect on the voters. Kane only had 3 points more than Backstrom and Backis had a better +/- than him.

I hope Backstrom wins it.

The reason playoffs arent taken into consideration is because most of the time the top picks (#1-#3) go to horrible teams who wont make the playoffs. Kane also played on a team without a player like Ovechkin. Id say if you had of switched Kane and Backstrom this season Kane would have about 10-15 more points then Backstrom simply on the basis he would be seeing icetime with the league leader in goals.

start to finish I think Kane was the best rookie.

Fair enough. But arguments can be made on both sides.

Backstrom started off as a wing on the fourth line. Glen Hanlon had no clue on how to use him. It wasn't into a quarter of the season and when Boudreau took over that he saw extensive time as a first line center for Ovechkin.
