As weak as the upcoming daft is, probably not. Who knows though, way to fluid at this point.

Would you do any of these deals:
1. Mayo/Thabeet/Haddadi for Kaman/Warren
2. Mayo/Thabeet for Bledsoe/Butler/Smith
3. Mayo/Thabeet for Aminu/Foye

I'm trying to see how any of these trades would make Memphis improve. Kaman doesn't make sense with them having Gasol. I like Bledsoe, but not enough to trade both Mayo and Thabeet since Butler and Smith aren't going to have any impact in Memphis. #3 looks the best since I think Aminu can play both forward positions and would be good sixth man going forward with the Grizzlies. Foye has somewhat resurrected himself lately with the Clippers but Memphis doesn't lack small shooting guards.

A Pistons fan proposed an interesting deal in another forum. Tracy MacGrady for Vasquez. Now I think Memphis wants to hang onto Vasquez for a cheap backup for a few years, but the idea of MacGrady got me thinking.

The guy is better than what the Grizzlies have now at shooting guard and backup small forward, has been playing very well the last month and a half and seems like he has shaken off some rust from his long layoff from injury, and is a veteran presence who has been in alot of bigtime situations and knows how to handle the pressure of fourth quarters.

His stats show he is trying to be more welll rounded to help Detroit and not just looking to be the man on offence like in the past. It's just a thought and we know Heisley likes to give the once star players a chance, such as Iverson and Jason Williams.

Personally, I find it very interesting.

Bulls fan here.
I was wondering what it would take for you guys to give up Mayo. I know the Grizzlies are willing to part with him and the Bulls need to upgrade the shooting guard position.

Any ideas of what the Grizzlies want in return for Mayo?

I personally do not favor a deal with Chicago as better options are available elsewhere.
I will however answer your question but you might not like the answer.

Since giving this organization a 1st round pick is like having a donkey carry a dictionary and be responsible for spell checking your thesis, any deal should include current players only.

Mayo & Thabeet for R. Brewer, Taj Gibson, & Omer Asik. It's not sexy on our end but if this is all we could get at the deadline I wouldn't hate it.

Brewer doesn´t make sense, I would replace him for Korver and add Carroll

posted this in the Mayo thread before I saw this one:

Taj and Korver and maybe a 1st for Thabeet and Mayo.

Thabeet and Johnson would then be packaged in a 3 way to houston for lee, and Hayes.

The 2nd part doesn't really matter to you but what do you guys think?

The Bulls are really high on Asik. Taj is good but replacable but a starting pf coming off our bench with a great attitude.

But hasnt thabeet been terrible? If you switch him or add Aurthur then that deal seems more reasonable.

Pairing Thabeet w/Mayo is the cost of doing business. It would not make sense from a Grizz perspective to trade Mayo & Arthur when the only guy we really want to get rid of is Thabeet. The Grizz do not want to trade Mayo but it makes sense to do so.

I still really like LouWill/Speights/Expiring filler for Mayo/Thabeet

Mem gets a guy who should be in the running for 6th man in LouWill (Philly has the best scoring bench in NBA mainly because of Lou--something Mem seems to need?) As well as a young cheap big prospect still on an affordable rookie deal. Also saves a couple Mil next year in the salary difference between Speights/Thabeet.

Philly hopes Mayo can be an upgrade to Meeks, dropping Meeks back into Lou's 6th man role. Philly hopes Collins can get Thabeet into... some sort of usable role, as we desperately need size.

With how good Lou (Philly) is playing right now, not sure they're looking to move him, though personally I'd like to move him as I don't think he plays well with Turner.

@GrizzledGrizzFan and other Grizzles Fans

Obviously Mayo and Thabeet are two likely candidates for players who could be expected to be moved.

My main question is what "specific" players are you targeting that "could" be moved? After searching through about 15 pages, I pretty much only saw garbage trades.

Let's be realistic. Both Thabveet and Mayo have low value so management won't be getting a highend player for them. But both are paid quite well for not significantly contributing. The team hasn't missed a beat since Mayo has been out, and it's arguable that they have played better without him. And despite not trying to get into the financial aspect, you can't dismiss the point about if they want to re-sign Randolph and Gasol something has to give, and both Mayo and Thabeet have sizeable deals that aren't far off for renewal.

So in my opinion it's about adding players that aren't going to break the bank, yet can contribute for the Grizzlies challenge of a playoff spot, although a couple of players listed below contradict that point with higher salaries.

Keyon Dooling is an experienced pointguard that is used to coming off the bench. He scores, gets good assists, fits the Grizzlies mold of pressure defense and gets a good number of steals, can hit the three point shot, and does it all in limited minutes. His contract is very low since he was bought out already and signed a minimum deal and wouldn't cost much to get.

Kyle Korver's name has come up alot lately, and for good reason. As a poor three point shooting team Korver fills that void greatly. And as a combo player he could back up two positions as a specialist.

Jamaal Crawford would step in as the starting shooting guard, and we know he can put up big numbers, and like a JR Smith he can get on a hot streak and change games. He has an expiring contract.

Fransisco Garcia isn't a mainstream name that is mentioned much at all. But he brings intangibles like leadership and defence. He plays two positions, and puts up decent stats. But his contract runs a little longer than I would like and is expensive so he might not be worth it. I just like the way the guy plays and goes about his job with professionalism.

I guess my "reaching a little" player I think would be tremendous on Memphis is James Harden. He is one of those players that don't "wow" you in any one area but plays a really solid overall game. Being behind alot of OKC players like Durant and Westbrook he doesn't get alot of recognition. With OKC giving Sefolosha a long deal at a cheaper price, and seemingly liking his defence and complimentary play between Durant and Westbrook, would the Thunder want to look at Thabeet and another player in some sort of package?

I've said for a while that a veteran center like Jeff Foster could help out Memphis down the stretch. He rebounds and plays hard defence, period. Giving Gasol better breaks to keep him out of foul trouble, and being at both Randolph and Gay's backs would work in my opinion.

I thought about a few other players such as Anthony Morrow, Tracy McGrady, Luc Mbah a Moute, and Omer Asik, but I like this group better.

So it's not a sexy bunch in terms of name recognition, but I believe all could get the job done, and contribute in ways that current players aren't. or can't. Thabeet, Haddadi, and Vasquez aren't going to help one bit this season. I'm thrilled that both Arthur and Young have really stepped up lately and I haven't included any power forwards even though I like a few that could help off the bench. And with Young and Tony Allen playing so well, with Henry in the wings, perhaps it's not such a priority anymore at shooting guard. But if they can upgrade and find a cheap three point shooter it's worth exploring.

I hope I answered your question boogydown, or at least explained my feelings well enough. The team is playing well now and when they are I generally change my mind and am more content to stay the course. But like any fan in here it's always fun to try and look into what they could do to tweak the roster.

Since the Grizz have Arthur...I don't see any need to Taj.

I could honestly see an offer of:
Korver + Johnson + Bogans + Cat's pick + Bulls 2011 1st

for

Mayo + Thabeet + Carroll

My guess is that Memphis would probably want Asik instead of Bogans or Johnson...and that might be the Bulls breaking point.

It goes without saying that if they give up their #2 center they want one back. That's a no brainer.

Fair enough.

But if Thabeet is to be included in any Mayo deal....and you want a C back as well....that may limit the teams you can deal with....or at least limit any picks that may be included.

I'm not really sure you're going to get much value for Thabeet as his contract makes teams scared to keep him. I think the most you'll get for him is an expiring decent backup asset or a late 1st for him. I'm sure you guys knew this already.

Based on what I have been reading, with the exception of the Phoenix trade, the Chicago fans offer of Korver + Picks for Mayo sounds like one of the better "fan" related trades offered.
