we're giving up too much and unless this has a cp3 attachment to it... this trade just is straight up giving up too much...

unless melo gave you an ultimatum in your meeting this is too much when negotiating from a position of strength

Gallo gets sacrificed, and I would prefer to keep him over Fields, but you can't walk away from that deal. In essence, it's Melo for Gallo

Are you kidding? Two of the universe's top individual scorers plus Chauncey Billups?

Chauncey will jack up 8 threes per game. Melo will average damn near 25 shot attempts, mostly within the first several seconds of the shot clock. And Amar'e will have room to roam and a ton of shots from 18 feet.

We're talking about adding up to 2 ppg as a team. My guess is 110 ppg. Very much a D'Antoni team.

But Chauncey isn't what you can call fast. D'Antoni wants a million and one possesions and mismatches all over. This trade puts guys in their traditional positions and changes Mike's approach. I think it'll be good regardless.

Knicks are playing this just right. Gallo OR Fields is just the right breaking point. I don't want to part with either of them, but we can live with losing one. Both is unacceptable.

I think it's a little funny that some are complaining about giving up too much if this goes down. Sure, we are giving up some talent but we will have Amare and Melo on the same team...after the decade we've endured to finally have two superstars and two future HOF'ers and people are complaining? We would still have flexibility and don't forget Billups is no slouch. Fields, Douglas, and Mosgov would still be here and the only real loss would be Gallo since Chandler would be a goner anyway. People keep forgetting we'd be acquiring Carmelo Anthony, probably the best scorer in the game.

The emotional attachment to Gallo is really stupid and annoying. In the end, it had to be 2 of 3. He wasn't going to be in our future if Melo was coming here.

The thing is: We need another Slam Dunk in the 2011 Draft to somehow have a chance to make this team better in the future.

Also, it pains me an awful lot to see three players go that clearly had the NYK in their heart.
