If nothing else, Nets getting back into mix forces Knicks to pay a steeper price for Melo. Which is why they thought this was a win-win.

Still, it will come down to Denver owner Stan Kroenke's decision to OK Knicks offer and give 'Melo what he wants: $65M and the Knicks.

To me, not taking on Harrington/Birdman (when we have the expirings to do so), and swapping Felton/Billups is indicative that our organization (or Dolan, with Isiah whispering in his ear) thinks that CP3/Deron is our plan for 2012.

As much as Amar'e wants Melo in NY, he's completely against gutting the roster to get him, sources say. He knows it takes a balanced roster.

Wtf is this guy talking about? Amar'e was saying himself it doesn't matter if we gut our team because the two of them are good enough.

He said this? When?

Yeah, Denver needs to accept it and move on already... Felton Chandler and Gallo Curry and a pick is more than enough.

Melo Amare Billups Fields Moz is a pretty fine starting 5 to have moving forward (key term there being: moving forward.. contrary to what the deal haters would like to think, we won't be suffocated from that point on from doing anything, the process rolls on into it's next stage).

yep. i don't see it either but i think they do. not sure even if we kept gallo/felton we could trade for cp3. would you take that package for him ?

Asked Amar'e if trade for Melo guts roster, would there be enough: "I think the combination of us two would be great."

How NY intends to sign CP3..... as FA??????????

2012 salaries

1)
20 mil Melo
20 mil Amare
1,5 mil 2011 first rounder
1 mil Fields cap hold
3,5 mil 7 cap holds

14 mil left

2)
20 mil Melo
20 mil Amare
1,5 mil 2011 first rounder
3 mil Mozgov
1 mil Fields cap hold
3 mil 6 cap holds

11,5 mil left

If cap would be at 60 mil in 2012 and CBA proportional to this year.

I agree 100% i would take Free Candy if we could keep Ray . I still would be thrilled to get Anthony but sucks to lose Felton it just feels wrong and dirty

the only way this makes any sense is that he told dolan that he'd sign with the nets if he wasnt traded to the knicks.

This works for me....You're able to trott out a pretty athletic and talented lineup, maintaing other cap friendly deals (primarily AZ) for secondary moves.

Knicks, you can't have you cake and eat it too. You gotta give to get and this deal is more than fair based upon what Toronto and Cleveland got for trading Bosh and LeBron respectively.

Nuggets just need to get the **** done....I'm sure this will pop off after Sunday's game. I don't think the NBA wants the potential deal to overshadow all-star weekend anymore than it has.
