It's very possible that when Dolan met Melo, Melo told him to "ante up or I'll choose NJ." All reports said the meeting was to see how committed the Knicks were in acquiring him.

Exactly. In other words, he f*cked us, because his bank account is more important than a title, no matter what his b*tch-ass says.

I can't go along with "he f*cked us." Amar'e got his, Melo will too. I have nothing against him for doing it. But yeah, the money + being in NY > Title to Melo. Always will be more a fan of Amar'e for coming here first, Melo a bit less...hey you know he really wants to be here. Can't hate that.

But it is what it is, we're locking ourselves into second fiddle. It's the 90's all over again. I did love those teams and I'm sure I'll love what we have working too. We just aren't going to be winning any titles.

How do you know that? Those 90s teams had one superstar. This team will have two, and a possibility of a third.

Melo brought the Nuggets to the WCF, (forgot the year(s)) and he didn't have anyone on those team(s) that were close to Amar'e...

I will miss Gallo if he is gone...Favorite player in the league, but it is what it is...

Dude, the bench will have the luxury of playing with Amare and/or Carmelo.

Stop looking at it in a vacuum. They're a mediocre cast by themselves, thankfully, they get to play with 1 or 2 of the 10 best players in the world.

Their roles will be limited and defined and they'll fill them well AND there's still more deals to be made after Melo's home!!!!

They get to play with 2 ball dominant scorers who don't make their teammates better?

When you put it that way, it makes so much sense.

So orlando/Mia will want to do a trade for Gallo, chandler etc? It's time to cash in those chips while they're healthy. Gallo has a bad back and Chandler bad ankles, they can get injured and lose all value.

If we make the Melo trade you know Donnie will be ready to make more moves to balance out the roster, there's always players available to fill out a bench. D'Antoni only plays 8-9 players anyways. We have Purp, Turiaf, Douglas, Walker--probably Earl Barron. We'd be fine.

I could only dream of doing that. Just saw it on google images and decided it fit the theme.

It looks like that guy Joe Petruccio who does those daily Mets sketchbook entries:

I would laugh if Chandler doesn't sign an extension with Denver and comes back to NY.

we will win a lot more games where we have garbage minutes to give..Amare will get to sit more at the end of games.
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

This is the crux of the matter.... still can be addressed ... but if we lose Moz or Fields.... we may as well regard this as another Marbury trade.

I offer Fields say no Chandler and no Ray Felton swap. And that would be my final offer.

Gallo + Fields + AR for a guy who, as good as he is, was headed out of town is a very equitable trade. If the Nets want to try to steal this they can.
Play time is over.

We don't expect Chandler to be here anyway next season, his next deal may be too high to match.
