You do realize that Ben Howland, Kevin O'Neill and Herb Sendek coach in the Pac-10 right? Three of the most notorious defensive grind it out hard asses in the country. They often get criticized for their style.
Herb Sendek coaches the worst team in the Pac 10-18 (2-14). They are one of the worst rebounding teams in the country (#301). They don’t force any turnovers and you’re calling them a great defensive team? And you have watched college basketball? I don’t care how he coaches they flat out stink.
I’ll give you Kevin O’Neill but refer to my post on the previous page to find how that worked out for D-Will on Thursday. He didn’t have an easy time with Ben Howland yesterday either. Howland is a good defensive coach but his style didn’t fit in well with UCLA’s system so he’s had to adjust.
I see you edited to include Montgomery so you must not watch the Cal Bears play very often. My university (Iowa State) sucks at basketball and we put up 76 on Cal. Arizona scored 105 on them, Washington 109 & 92. Cal ranks 271st in the nation in scoring defense giving up 72 ppg. Stanford is the only Pac-10 team in the top 130 nationally in terms of scoring defense.
Who is the #3 in scoring defense in the nation? Alabama giving up 57 PPG. What conference do they play in? The SEC. You’d never see a Pac 10 team in the top 100. Florida is #33 and Jones had to go up against them yesterday.
Two indicators of a good defensive team are shot blocking and rebounding.
NCAA leaders in blocks per game #3 Kentucky
#4 Arkansas
#6 South Carolina
#19 Mississippi
#23 Georgia
#33 Vanderbilt.
The only Pac 10 teams in the top 110 are UCLA & UW and we saw how UCLA’s size game Williams problems.
When you look at NCAA leaders in rebounds per, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee are all in the top 40. UW is the only Pac team near the top 40. If you really knew the Pac -10 you’d know that Wazzu has been playing solid defense and left Herb freaking Sendek out of your argument.

Your referencing as Patric Young as great opposition was thoroughly amusing. The guy is a 3-3 player. All it shows is that you know how to read draft express.
No, I actually watched Florida-Kentucky yesterday and Patrick young play great D for 20 minutes and didn’t score a point. Don’t know why that matters how many points he scores when we’re not talking about his offense. Sorry that I didn’t name the Gator role players I thought I’d mention someone you might have recognized from DX. Obviously you did. I like to come on here and discuss while I watch the games. Maybe you should join me and brush up on your college bball knowledge a little.

The difference between me and you is that I am a college basketball fan - your a draft fan. The strength of a conference is not always related to its number of prospects. Every power ranking out there shows that the Pac-10 and SEC are comparable in terms of opposition.
I didn’t expect to come on here and have my fanhood questioned and I don’t really care what you think so I shouldn’t even respond but I will. I grew up watching college basketball, I go to a Big 12 university and attend college games often. I even have friends who play college basketball and have played against a few myself.
Being in school gives me a lot of free time in the winter to watch basketball. ESPN carries every big SEC game and I catch the Pac-10 games on Fox Sports. I have a brother who just graduated from a Pac-10 school that is a big basketball fan. I went to the Pac-10 tournament with him in L.A. a couple years ago. I understand the difference between the conferences well. How many Pac-10 teams in the top 25 this year? 1- Arizona, who D-Will plays for and just got beat twice in a row.
