Relax it's just one game. This career game today doesn't make people who said he's a poor-to-average shooter stupid by any means. That was a fact. Now hopefully he continues to play well because if he does, he might be the player we want playing next to DeMar

DeMar had a similar late season uprising as well. Who thought DeMar would be as good as he is this fast? With much room for improvement I might add. If not Kyrie, Harrison Barnes is where the money is.

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread, Part 3
Here's my summary.
First of all Clemson played a really tight zone defense. They were intent on stopping the penentation game by Marshall and Zellers/ Henson inside.
At the early stages of the game, HB was scoring consistently but UNC was still adjusting to the zone so everything else was getting shut down. Clemson was up by 10+ in the 1st half.
UNC started to claw back and the Clemson zone started to break down as they had to react to HB draining 3's on them all day. Zellar and Henson got on a run and scored.
With about 1 minute to go in regulation, HB drains a 3 to pull UNC back to within 1. UNC forces overtime on a Zellar layup.
In OT it was all HB. I think he scored 14 points in OT. He had 2 3's, a putback layup +1 and then a bunch of intentional FT's to ice it.

5th spot we might be in good position to get him, his draft stock probably rises again after this game. There's no way he'll be out of top 5 for now. If he continues to put up efficient games down the road, I see him climb back up to top 3. He won't be 1st pick, that spot belongs to Irving. I wouldn't be surprise if someone takes him at 3rd pick.

Does anyone have stats for Harrison once he began to pick it up? I wonder if his percentages are still that bad.

UNC vs. Duke part III?
Could be battling for the ACC championship tomorrow if Duke beats Va Tech.

He was never as bad a shooter as his stats suggested though. Like DD, in college his mid range jumper was pretty money but then he struggled with it when he got to the nba. But now its back. Barnes struggled with it but hes always had good form and range, it was just a matter of consistency. Barnes is a solid shooter who will only get better. Him and DD are quite similar in my opinion, their games are different but they both have the tools to be really good. They also have the work ethic and bodies to go with it. Its just a matter of putting it all together.

That 6-8 from 3 is definitely intriguing, but I wanna see him continue this good outside shooting over the next few weeks (or however far UNC makes it in the tourney).

I agree that he will get better, but he can't be called a solid shooter now without consistency. Form and range don't mean a thing without that.

Praying Barnes' stock doesn't move up too high.

Demar,Barnes and Johnson sounds like a very good trio to me! Add our solid PF's in Amir and ED. All we would be missing is a PG, we could pick up marquis teague or austin rivers in next years draft.

I meant by trading down for barnes if we were to land the #1 pick.

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread, Part 3
It was a very sloppy game by UNC, but Barnes bailed them out in the 1st half, and kept them close enough for them to make their run in the 2nd. he hit some huge clutch 3's late in the 2nd and in overtime, and made his free throws to ice the game when Clemson was biting at their heels.
The thing about Barnes is, he seems like a very cerebral player... he's very measured in his approach... very calculated in everything he does so far... you can tell he's still figuring out the NCAA game... but man, he's got some game.
His handle will improve, and although he doesn't have a quick first step right now, he understands spacing, and how to use his intelligence to get himself to the line. This kid's gonna be a great pro.

The 3 has been a huge hole for us for years now. Over the last 5 seasons the Raptors have employed 14 different starters at that position (Peterson, Garbo, Kapono, Moon, Delfino, Graham, Bargnani, Marion, A. Wright, Weems, Turkoglu, Kleiza, J. Wright, and now J. Johnson). BC needs to close that revolving door this summer, hopefully Barnes is the player to do it.

Yea 46% looks a lot better than 40%. I wouldn't be mad at picking him. I just hope he's there if we miss out on Kyrie.

That means Bargs thinks he is a SF when BC and the coaching staff think he is a C. Therefore, it is a huge disappointment.
I know what you mean, but Bargs has no where near the lateral quicks/handles to be a SF. That's the difference between him and Perry Jones - Perry Jones actually has the quickness and the handles to be a wing player. It's especially clear when he can bring the ball up the court in drills faster than any of the "guards" on Baylor.
I don't think Perry has the lateral quicks to defend small forwards. While his ballhandling is very good for a power forward, I don't think its good enough for a small forward. When he brings the ball up court for Baylor, it's always in the open court with no ball pressure. I haven't seen him actually take guys off the dribble to the rack all year.

I dont agree, shooting percentage doesnt always tell the story. It depends what kind of shots they are.A guy like rudy is only shooting 33% from three this year yet is considered a very good three point shooter. Barnes has the range, have him work on his jumpshot for a whole summer like Demar and he could easily become a good three point shooter
