Somebody said it well on another board. It is not that Vancouver was playing well but TFC is that bad. Our defence is a joke but even if this season is a disaster I hope we keep our coaching staff. One of the biggest reasons why TFC is bad every year is they keep firing everybody or the people quit.

I did not watch the game after the second goal but I can only laugh at people who say Frei is our best player. There is a reason why Frei is still in the MLS even though people were predicting he would be gone after the first year. The guy is a great shot-stopper but horrible at controlling his box. He stays on his line too often and gives people free access at quality opportunities. The biggest difference between a good goalie and a great goalie is how well you can control your box. Frei is at best a good goalie.

I want to hate Vancouver and scream about how much they suck too but that is only because of how mad and jealous I am of the state of their team after one game and the state of TFC going into their 5th year.

Hopefully they are a much better representative for Canada then TFC has been for 4 years. I also hope DERO demands to be traded to Vancouver. Only positive that can come out of this game.

In regards to their stadium, I was not that impressed and fieldturf sucks. Soccer was meant to be played on grass. I especially loved how their fans tried to copy TFC and throw things on the field after their first goal. At least we did something right in our history. That is by far my favourite moment as a TFC fan. Making the second round of the Champions League is #2.

I thought the stadium they played in today was just temporary until they move to their stadium in October? At least, that is what I heard. I watched the game and TFC looked bad. They need to add a few more players to the team or else it will be a long season for them. I just hope that when the Impact joins MLS next year, that we will have good players on the team and a DP. I know it's only one game but Whitecaps looked good.

your right its a temporary stadium while BC place gets renovated. Honestly a small stadium like that would be a good idea rather than moving back into BC place which seats over 50 thousand, I've heard alot of complaints about it in regards to the CFL and i assume it'll be similar for soccer.

Nice win. There were a lot of good points. Yourasskowsky looked good, until he was a goofball. Martina was awesome. Stevanovich looked a little out of sorts, but you can tell he has skill.

Good win and they looked a lot more organized in this one. The red card at the end was a joke, and just goes to show that MLS and CONCACAF still have the worst refs around.

Didn't like the way Portland was tackling through the whole match and I was surprised there were no serious injuries.

The electronic signs are a nice touch to the stadium, but it would have been better if they went the whole way around instead of stopping halfway at the end line. The crowd seemed more subdued and also noticed a lot of empty blocks of seats, but that might be due to the weather than anything. Most people emptied out before the final whistle was even blown.

They came from behind and won 2-1. They have a huge game against Costa Rica on Friday April 1st. They have to win that game or they are most likely playing Mexico for a shot at playing in the World Cup. Too bad TFC decided to hold onto 2 of our best players or I would feel more confident about our chances.

Our Men's national team beat Belarus today. That is a solid win for us. Best part is there were only 2 players from the MLS playing in the game. The thing is the goal came from somebody playing in Houston.

Belarus is ranked 37 so this was a win against a decent team. I don't know if these matches affect the rankings but if they do then Canada should be going up.

Shame Canada never is at full strength because there are always a few good players tied up with other leagues here and there.

I think DERO has been traded to New York. This would be awesome news for me if true.

Trade is official. I have heard good things about Tchani so I am very happy with this trade because a bag of soccer balls would have been a fair trade in my opinion.

Why did Dero get traded? I havent been watching MLS in a long time but I remember when Dero got traded to Toronto, everyone was happy including Dero and he signed a long extension. Then recently I heard that TFC had a fallout with Dero but they sorted it out. Anyone explain it to me? I just thought that Dero was happy to be here and he signed a long contract 5 years I think to stay here, why the sudden change? Why did he start demanding more money eventhough he signed a contract?

I am tired of wasting my time on him so hopefully somebody else will answer your questions.

Canada lost to Costa Rica and will play Mexico for a shot at goingh to the under 20 World Cup unless Trinidad and Tobago shock them. Very disappointing.

I think it had to do with him feeling that he was underpaid so he wanted more money.

Derrick Murray was underpaid but he accepted the contract, signed it, and honoured it. Can these MLS guys really hold a team hostage because they didnt like the contract they signed? I think Cann earlier walked out for the same thing. :-? I dont think I have heard of NBA or NHL guys complaining about their contract during its effect. Was it a contract year and he wanted a nice extension?

De Ro's take on the situation:

De Rosario’s tone’s not bitter; it’s the sound of being brutally disappointed how a “dream situation” could turn out so poorly.

“There has been upwards of 100 players to come through the doors at TFC, and not all of them have been bad players. Six coaches in five years too. What kind of organization works like that? They should look at how they are doing business.”

The Scarborough native paints an ugly picture of the environment he leaves at the club, where all players, no matter the age or pedigree are treated as though they are lucky to be around, rather than valued commodities.

He does make some good points about how the organization is being run.

Canada will be playing a friendly against Ecuador at BMO Field on June 1. I am going to the game in Detroit so I do not think I will go to this game too. Hopefully a good crowd will go and support the team so they feel good going into the game against the US. Confidence will be important in my opinion so we will need a good result in this game.
