Cool thanks. I didn't check the international forum so that explains it.
“Dwight Howard without the muscles”
Is he really that good?
I was thinking more like JaVale McGee.

I love players like Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Carmelo Anthony and Tracy McGrady. Why? Just because I love basketball. Even if you don't have one in your team, you should love them, too.

There's also Philipp Neumann, who's not as hyped as all those guys but still an interesting prospect.
BTW i wouldn't call Saric a big man yet. He's got the size but so far has played primarily as a wing.

If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

No, he's not that good. McGee without the muscles, yeah, I guess. Quicker feet than McGee. But no offensive game. He can't do much offensively and he's playing against 6'4''-6'5'' opponents.

If Saric adds muscle, he will be a PF. But regardless, he doesn't have the foot speed to play as a wing.

Re: Lucas Nogueira
Who is Philipp Neumann?? Has he declared for the 2011 draft?
The only foreign bigs who're interesting in the 1st round are:
Valanciunas, Kanter, Vesely and maybe Motiejunas(good offensive player but doesn't play defense n is a poor rebounder)
2nd round:
Nikola Vucevic, Nikola Mitrovic n Lucas (if he falls to 2nd round)

Neumann is an interesting prospect, but he's not ready for NBA yet. Heck, he's not even ready for EL competition.
Nogueira, with his NBA athleticism, is going to interest a lot of teams. I don't see him falling out of the first round. If he has a great showing at Hoop Summit, he'll be a top 20 pick (imo).
As far as other big men, I think Tomislav Zubcic should get some mention. He has the length and athleticism to play in the NBA. His offense is raw, but he can certainly work on that.

You´re wrong here. Not comparing him with Howard, but:
1. McGee dont have muscles himself.
2. In the Spain, he plays in EBA. It´s not a 4th division as many thing. It´s a league where the ACB teams keep secondary rosters. Some teams plays only with their prospects (Estudiantes, Real Madrid...) and others plays with veterans (some NCAA veterans). There are a lot of 7 footers playing there. Much more than any division in the NCAA, per example.
3. He still raw offensively, but you wont find many 70% FT young 7 footers playing basketball. So, you should keep the eye on him.

Would you compare with Danilo Gallinari?

1. Yeah, the point is that he has even less muscles than McGee. That's why I used the expression, to stress how physically undeveloped he still is.
2. I know what EBA is and I suspect that much better than anyone else in this forum. It's the league where the ACB teams keep their secondary teams (some Adecco teams too!) and the 4th division. I'm in EBA games regularly, dude, you picked a bad time to lecture somebody. I'm in Baloncesto Torrelodones games but I've actually seen Lucas playing a couple of times, he's in the same division and plays nearby in Madrid. Plenty of 7 footers playing there? I mean, what's exactly your definition of plenty? Lucas is matched up with 1,95 - 2 meters players on a regular basis and he's not a dominant force.
3. Of course you should keep an eye on him, who said otherwise? I'm just saying he's way too raw right now; to the point that projecting his NBA future is basically a speculative exercise with little actual meaning.
So, no, I'm not wrong on anything there.

Re: Lucas Nogueira
I´m sorry. I didnt know that I was talking with an expert. In Estudiantes, per example, there are two seven footers (Lucas and Guerra). That is good enough to be more than some divisions of the NCAA. In the Big East, per example, there are only 4 seven footers playing. And we´re talking about one of the best of NCAA.
In fact, most of the NCAA bigmen are undersized skilled players (6-7, 6-8). So, it´s not like every draft prospect is facing true big guys in their leagues. The last time I saw, Lucas rebounds numbers were good enough to lead every division in the Spain (playing only a bit more than 20 mpg).
And yes, I dont think he´s ready for the NBA right now. But you cant simply deny the potential from the guy that almost stole alone the title from the US National Team U18 (with one of the most talent team of the last years) playing in Texas.
What Lucas did against USA, Argentina, Puerto Rico and Canada is simply ridiculous. The guy was simply that dominant.

Re: Lucas Nogueira
And Real has Arteaga, Getafe has some other 7ft kid, Gran Canaria has an african kid who's pretty long too... but that's because they're farm teams for ACB/Oro clubs and have those prospects with them to develop. Just look at their ages, they're all extremely young. A regular EBA club can't afford 7fters, unless they're truly awful at basketball or some low-tier prospect from Afica or Eastern Europe. The leading rebounder (rpg) in the league is 6'7'', the 2nd best rebounder is 6'7'', the third is 6'6'', the 4th is 6'7''... and the backups are even smaller. The best shot-blockers are Lucas and Arteaga, but the 3rd best is 6'7'', the 4th is 6'8'' and the 5th is 6'7''. And these heights are a bit inflated.
I wasn't making any comparison with the NCAA. Lucas is a very good rebounder and shot-blocker at this level but he's an extremely raw offensive player who can't be dominant even against much smaller counterparts. He isn't ready to play in the NBA, yeah, that was my point. If he were Dwight Howard without the muscles, he'd be.

Re: Lucas Nogueira
He is really physically underdeveloped. Soft spoken kid. He has to show some fight and toughness inside.
McGee and Whiteside are the closest NBA comparisons. Both were more developed physically, though, and also I believe they are quicker getting off the floor.
For comparison on how underdeveloped Bebe is...
Bebe
218lbs 7.8%BF
Javale
241lbs 5.3%BF
That is 23lbs at more than 2 percent less body fat! Bebe can put on 20lbs+ in the next few years, but its not going to be straight muscle. He's far off from even being in the kind of shape Javale is in! Bebe is a long way from contributing in the league.

Re: Lucas Nogueira
Yeps, I said it from the beginning, he's extremely underdeveloped. He's nothing like Biyombo, who's extremely raw in terms of offensive skill-set but has the body of a basketball player and a good understanding of the game; or Valanciunas, who lacks bulk to fight with the big boys in the Euroleague but displays correct physical abilities for his age and has very good fundamentals. He's not even ready to play in the ACB; or even in the D-League.
