Hypothetically, if Thames were to emerge as a legit everyday player, could Snider flanked by Thames and Bautista work, at least in the short term ?

Yes Snider needs to work on his reads, and that would be even more vital without possessing legit CF wheels... But i am really impressed with the shape he has worked himself into since his rookie year. And he really didn't look all that out of place going to each of the gaps this afternoon

Probably more than a bit crazy, but Thames bat intrigues me

I think I can see Thames/Mastro being in CF until Gose comes up

Thames definitely doesn't have the range or arm to play center; he's below-average even in left.

Asher's the guy I'm most excited about this season. Great start.

I noticed today that Dunedin's starting rotation is Deck, Wojo, Alvarez and Jenkins. Oh, and Morrow's in town for a few starts! I don't know if it's ever been better down there.

Joel Carreno is getting hit pretty badly in his first start: 6 ER over 4 IP, with 8 hits, 4 walks and 2 HRs surrendered. Ouch.

Lawrie and Thames went back-to-back in the first tonight. Both are off to stellar starts, and it's the first dinger for each.

Thames is now 2-2 with three walks, two intentional. Quite the first impression on the PCL

Lawrie: 2-5, HR, 2B, K

New Hampshire crushed 13-1

d'Arnaud: 0-4, K
McDade: 1-4, K
Sierra: 1-2
Carreno: 4.2 IP, 10 H, 7 ER, 5 BB, 6 K, 2 HR (ouch)

Dunedin loses 3-2
Goins: 1-4, 2B
Jimenez: 1-4
Jackson: 1-3
Wilson: 1-3
Molina: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 1 HR

Man, guys like Lawrie and Thames are going to put up video game numbers in the PCL. One of the reasons why I hate having an affiliate there.

Here's the YTD stats of these 2. Avg, OBP, Slugging, OPS -

Lawrie .381 .458 .762 1.22
Thames .500 .583 .833 1.42

Both off to great starts. Thames leads the team with 7 RBI's. That guy is an RBI machine.

Drew Hutschison was lights out today for Lansing

Hutchison 7 IP 3H 0R 0ER 1BB 11K 0HR 0.00 ERA Nasty

I watched his spring training start, his stuff is extremely underrated

He's gonna be a top 100 prospect by the end of the season.

Hutchison has good stuff, and with his solid command he might be a fairly fast mover...would not surprise me if he got bumped to Dunedin in a couple months when one of Deck/Jenkins/Woj move up to AA. Probably going to be another year and a couple levels before we know what we have there.

From what I saw of Thames he has fine range for a corner outfielder. He's no CF, but he's not below average.

I've always been a big fan of Brett's. Lawrie is the real deal. The kid can hit. He also has more power than you'd think.

BTW - His sister is FIRE in ability and looks. Danielle Lawrie is smoking hot, imo. Real pretty girl.

I love that you mentioned her looks in three straight sentences, followed by a picture and a drooling emoticon.
