shirley barnes shoots down rumours once more.

"Shirley Barnes, Harrison's mother, adamant to me no decision made yet. Said decision likely next week."

He burst onto the scene after an immpressive showing at the Hoops Summit.

He's relatively small for his true position, center, but he's very athletic.

His offensive game is, at the moment, terrible, but his defensive game is very impressive from what I've seen.

I'm not a fan of him at all, but he does have a lot of potential due to his athleticism.

All I know about him is that he's 6'9, 4.4% body fat, crazy wingspan that people believe will allow him to play C in the NBA, and ridiculously athletic. A lot of people think he's Hassan Whiteside 2.0 and others think he's the real deal because unlike Whiteside who played in a crap conference, he plays in the Spanish ACB league.

I leave you with these highlights (there's random chatter in the middle of the highlights but whatever)

I really do think Barnes will stay in school. There's just too many rumors of him staying and not a single one of him leaving.

I cannot stress this enough, the media literally has 0 idea. They dont speak with Barnes.
Given that, he is still much more likely to declare than to stay in school.
If he was adamant on staying in school, he would have announced with Zeller and Henson.

Anyone check out the NBA Today podcast from yesterday?
Russilo (this guy knows his basketball) went over the Synergy tapes of Valanciunas, Kanter, and Vesely.
He seems pretty high on Kanter and Vesely, but he was really down on Val.
Says that he's lost on defense, and that he literally has one move on offense, P&R and rolls towards the basket. He doesn't see why draftexpress is so high on him.

As long as it's for a talented young player (probably still on their rookie deal), it's certainly worth considering depending on who's available.

I wouldn't want to trade a young draft prospect for a 28 year old guy, might as well try to sign Nene he's a free agent right?

My immediate thoughts on Biyimbo after watching the video posted and reading the few replies on him was to compare his game to serge ibaka.

I would be highly disappointed if we did not work him out in the following months.

again, an unreliable source, how would Shirley know? She never met bar...oh wait...

damn man stop making the world wait for his decision, this is more annoying than watching Lebron's decision episode.

Val is a project, the idea is he's not an NBA caliber player right now but you get him to bulk up and learn the game for a few years - and that height, rebounding instincts and mobility for a big are rare enough that it's worth the wait. He'd definitely be a scrub for at least the first half year though, as a skinny Euro who gets pushed around and leads the league in fouls per minute. Val RIGHT NOW is not an NBA player

But I'm in the skills and awareness > physical tools camp for big men. I personally think vision and basketball acumen is more important for Cs than every position but PG
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

My immediate thoughts after todays presser was Barg/pick for Gasol/vasquez. Just a rough outline, but I think if BC is still here come summertime the main focus will be a defensive oriented big.

One more thing. Utah is slated to pick 5th and they have the 12th pick as well. They could package it and move up if the ping pong balls work out in their favour. But I think they keep 12 and pick Jimmer.

I don't blame Barnes for waiting to make a decision, the longer he waits the more information he has about the CBA negotiations. I don't really think he wants to miss an entire year of playing Basketball because at a young age it could be vital to his development. If I was him I would wait till the deadline to enter or enter without an agent.

i just hope their 5th doesn't turn out to be 1st after the lottery draft, they don't deserve to get a steller point guard after letting one go.

More of Michael Gilchrist embarrassing himself.

WOW! He's a great player, but he's really TERRIBLE with interviews.

I think Gilchrist is trying to show some swagger and look cool. He's failing miserably which leads me to believe he's probably a huge nerd.

Return to Toronto Raptors
