Artest is going to get a lot of attention from the refs in game 4. I could see an unfair ejection for a hard foul.

I would be even more impressed with the Mavs if they sweep.

Too much pride from the Lakers.

I could see them pushing it all the way to Game 6 in Dallas.

Pride won't win you games, if anything it's a detriment.

Lakeshow seems to be done for this season, there is definately something up with Pau though (maybe some truth to the rumors). Sweep or not, Lakers aren't winning 4 in a row.

Ladies and gentlemen, there WILL be a new champion! At long last, a hero has finally emerged to take down the evil empire otherwise known as the Los Angeles Lakers. That man is Dirk Nowitzki. The Lakers have simply had no answer for this guy all series long. He has officially shed his reputation as a choker and has taken command, busting the 2 time defending champs in the mouth for the 3rd game in a row and leaving them on the verge of elimination.

LA is crumbling at the seams. They've lacked focus all season long and its finally coming back to bite them. They're finding that it's not quite as easy to "flip the switch" this time around. They are discombobulated. They don't trust each other. They aren't playing hard. There's no sense of urgency. And they're being exposed.

If somebody had told you beforehand that, out of the Lakers and the Mavericks, one of these teams would blow an 8 point lead late in the 4th quarter, how many people would have thought it would be the LAKERS? Especially in a must win game?

Its just a sign of the times. We're approaching a new age. San Antonio went down. Boston is on the ropes. And now LA is all but gone as well. Its the year of the new. Our new champion will be a team we've either never seen or haven't seen in quite a while. Dallas. OKC. Memphis??? Miami (assuming Boston doesn't come back). Chicago. Atlanta??? Whomever wins this year, we can all say that this is perhaps the most exciting and competitive post season that we have ever seen.

I just don't see the Mavs being able to beat the Heat.

He only had that reputation from ignorant fans. Anyone who knows anything about this league never thought that to be true. Even in '06 he had a good series, it's certainly not his fault that his teammates/officials let him down. In fact his only bad playoff series came against GS in '07. In fact if you look at his numbers he is one of the clutchest players in the NBA, and this isn't a new trend. Seriously any notion that he was ever a "choker" is moronic.

Actually....if Caron comes back, Mavs - Heat could be interesting.

We need to get an over/under going for the number of mid-season threads that will get bumped when the Lakers are officially out of the playoffs.

I think it's gonna be in the double digits.

I did say "perhaps". Now considering I was born in the 80s, I wasn't able to actually watch the playoffs in the 80s. That being said, I wonder if this many top seeds were getting knocked out back then, they way they are this year? Its crazy! Everybody always talks about how the playoffs are about experience and that the best teams (veterans) always win in 7 game series. And here we have all these young teams running everyone else off the court. (Granted, Dallas isn't exactly "young" themselves)

The better team is winning this series.
