Don't need him or a 6'6" PF (Faried). We need a Center, a & footer, or a natural PG, no more Tony Douglases.

I think I would rather have Jenkins from Hofstra, bigger and stronger,I think he will be a better pro faster because his body is that much more developed then Jimmer's. when I look at Walker or Jimmer I see a slightly taller version of TD without the defense. Someone should point out we are not running up and down the floor all the time now also so this freewheeling crap may soon end especially if they are going to get a real center

The Nash/Curry comparisons make no sense to me. Jimmer is nothing like them. Just because a guard can shoot, doesn't mean he's Nash or Curry. Same with a forward if he's 6'7", he's not Clarence Weatherspoon. Jimmer is more like Bibby/Mo Williams/Barea (good comparison to whoever made it earlier). He's a great scorer and shooter. His playmaking skills are not even close to Nash and Curry. And Jimmer cannot stay infront of his man. He's almost Marbury bad defensively. We got to play Rondo, Rose and Wall the next few years. We can't have a statue at PG.

I think hes gonna do okay in the league. Prob become a decent bench guy. Third guard type. Not my first choice for the knicks but I dont thinks hes gonna be a scrub.

Only if a Team trades up in Phillie's place. The 76ers have Jrue, Lou Williams and Evan Turner at Guard. Jimmer makes zero sense for them.

I like Jimmer, he'd fit in easily into the system. Lets say it's the last possession and the Knicks have the ball. You have Melo iso'd on the wing, which is already money. Then you have Amare on the weakside ready to flash to the hoop if his man doubles, and that's even more money. Chauncey's at the top of the 3 point line ready to hit a clutch 3, and even if you double with his man Melo can shoot over any PG.

Now Jimmer's already shown an ability to hit big shots, so the transition next year (if we are lucky to get Fredette) should be very easy as Chauncey's career comes to a close. He just steps into the role of 3 point shot maker.

However I do not see him as being a good defender or an average defender. He seems smart, but there's too many guys that simply have superhuman athleticism. Without great team defense or a great post defender, not sure we can support a Jimmer Fredette.

Still, I haven't seen an excellent shooter like Fredette come out of college since Steph Curry. NY's going to be lucky to grab him, but like other posters, I dont think it's worth spending any resources to move up to get him. Maybe if the deal includes solving the problem with our lack of big men.

Most people would probably say that about Steve Nash also and look at how that turned out.

Jimmer to the Knicks for Toney douglas and #17 sounds great to me!

Its obvious many of you havent watched College Basketball this year, dude is an amazing shooter. Id like to think of him as JJ Redick with handle and vision. He had to score for BYU to be at the level they were this year. He got others involved when need be. He undoubtedly made others better this year. His teammates speak very highly of him. They said JJ couldnt play defense when he came out of college and for the most part he didnt. But, he earned his spot with the Magic. This guy has a very natural feel for the game which is why people compare him to Steve Nash as well. Guys like Hartsock, Davies, Jackson Emory on BYU benefited with not only Jimmer shooting ability but also, his ability to get in the lane bc his jumpshot is so good and create open layups and 3's for others.

What I find intriguing is having a guy like Chauncey to mentor JF who is not per say a pass first point. He is a guy that makes the right decision to shoot or pass, very high basketball IQ. What I also see as a understated advantage is Jimmer's body. He has broad shoulders that creates the space for him to finish at the rim along with the strength to take hits in the lane and still be very controlled and pass the ball off.

A lot of his defensive struggles was due to the fact that he was asked to do so much and create for all of his guys at BYU. He has calf issues and still played through it. The last thing I want to hammer home is mental toughness, HE NEVER SEEMS RATTLED! Hes played streetball with prisoners in jails. You cant get more testy and raw than that. Big games, he never looked reluctant to play his game, he carved up a Florida front line that is NBA quality. Those guys were 6'9 6'10 6'10 at the 3 4 and 5.

Please trade up to pick Jimmer! there are not any bigs in this draft that gives us what we need. A veteran at Center is whats needed.

Who would play Miller? Klay Thompson?

Jimmer would be Alford.

This right here. Too many people are overlooking this. We saw what happened this year when Rondo torched us, we saw how Dallas and NO torched an aging Fisher. We need defense.

How do you people expect to compete in the East with the Bulls and Heat who pride themselves on defense when your gonna put out the worst defensive 5 in history. Can you imagine Jimmer, STAT and Melo on the court at once?

People were saying the same sh*t leading up to the Drafts in past Years and in their Rookie Seasons for Westbrook and Curry.

Both of those guys proved you haters wrong.

Just cause a guy isn't dropping nearly 10 APG in College and is scoring nearly 30 PPG, doesn't mean he can't be a good PG.

Like I said above, one of the reasons I want Jimmy so bad is I seem him as a PERFECT fit to develop in this System. He sooooooooooooo reminds me of Nash-lite.

--Mags :)

I actually agree with both of the quotes mags. It's not that jimmer is a finished product, but right now his vision and passing are complete unknowns. all we know is he can score. The JJ comparison is fairly good because JJ finds ways to score.
Also, it is true, that if a player given as much attention as Jimmer has skills which will translate, someone will take a shot on him before pick 17, otherwise he PROBABLY does not have much more to offer.

About Westbrook and Curry.
Westbrook is an amazing athlete/basketball player. He is also a terrible point guard. Put Westbrook next to Terance Williams (who can orchestrate) and the team is that much more dangerous.

Curry has shown good basketball fundamentals, but also is not a brilliant passer. He is a good player, but he has to be part of a winner before i give him credit.

Basically, before you dub someone Nash-lite, comparing them to a hall of famer like that means that you expect an allstar, to compare to Nash you are projecting 16ish ppg and 10ish apg.

Oh don't get me wrong here, I understand where you and they are coming from. And yes, we need a Defensive Big and a legit 2-Guard badly....but here's the caveat:

1. We went with need in the past and lost out on some possible guys. I don't want to see another guy I wanted become the man for another Team.

2. Do you know how many people blasted Ellis, Durant, Curry, and many, many more guys during their 1st SL, Rookie Year, etc. Just because they struggled a bit out of the gate?!

Here are some of the reminders of the wonderful "scouts" here on our Board:

- Durant is the next JC, I'm calling it now
- Curry will be nothing but a chucking-tweener. His small frame will be eaten alive.
- Ellis is just another high volume, me-1st Player.

People are forgetting that even IF we don't want to keep guys like this (IE: Jimmy), they will flourish in a System like this with PT. They can then be packaged for the Players we MAY want.

Just look at how Gallo, WC, and Felton for example and how their values skyrocketed in this System...landing us a Melo. The Warriors were willing to move Curry for Melo, and the Cavs Hickson for Amar'e.

Do you remember hooooooow many people blasted the Gallo and Fields picks?!!!

ok - i hope i don't get killed here...but don't we have Andy Rautins on the bench who saw no playing time...

again, I am not an avid college basketball fan...but dont these guys have the same game? Great shooters with some ball handle ability.

Yeah, Jimmer and Rautins totally project to be the same player, lol.... I also read that Marshon Brooks looks like a young Kobe. You know, like Kyle Korver is basically the same player like Ray Allen.
