Yeah Jerry West saw this years ago. Lebron's talented but his actual skill level is not up there yet. I just wonder how he'll adapt when he loses that athleticism.

He'll have to naturally progress to being a post player. No doubt about that. He's a smart enough player that he'll fill in the gaps once he loses his athleticism. But right now he doesn't realize that he could be doing a whole lot of damage and take another step as a player by learning a post move or two. It's a pity.

But then again, that's what a lot of people were saying about MJ in his first 6 seasons too; relying on too much athleticism.

As a basketball fan first and foremost, I really do hope that LeBron can smarten up and diversify his offensive game. (Although, as a Raptors fan, it'd be too terrifying to watch a smart LeBron absolutely terrorizing the team)

Yeah people forget that early in MJ's career he already had the largest arsenal of offensive moves. His rookie season he was already posting up hitting turnaround fadeaway js. Heck he was doing that in college. By '87 he was getting wide open looks regularly by moving without the ball. People saw the athleticism and so have a distorted impression of MJ's early abilities.

The problem with Lebron is that he's so used to having the ball in his hands.

IT's funny though if LBJ scored 50 pts, and didn't pass his teammates, and they didn't win, everyone would be hating on him, for just being selfish like Derek Rose or Westbrook...

He's passing making the correct plays on the immediate doubles he's facing, and gets a triple double, and people are saying he isn't taking over.

Basically he's damn if he does or doesn't...Only way he wouldn't be criticized in this scenario is somehow he put sup 40/10/10 and heat win.

To be fair, I thought LeBron was playing a good game until the latter half of the 4th quarter. He was active, and although he wasn't shooting that great from the field, he tried to get his baskets in the paint and tried to make things happen. Even in the 4th when his shots weren't falling, he was breaking down Kidd off the dribble and generally doing a nice job of playmaking.

The latter half of the 4th quarter was a different story. He wasn't assertive and he tried to be too cute and shoot over Kidd instead of creating and breaking him down off the dribble.

And he could've very well averted all of this if he had a post move or two and learned to back down a much smaller Jason Kidd in the paint/block instead of shooting it out in the perimeter.

I actually liked the way he played in game 4. He was making the right plays and feeding the hot hand. But with all the hype and his status in the league, a lot more is expected of him whether unfairly or not.

the mavs were actually playing really good d on lebron. so you can't blame lebron for passing the ball. especially when you have wade on your team.

There were 2-3 critical possessions where LeBron had Kidd one on one and decided to shoot a contested shot instead of trying to break down the D and getting an easier shot for himself or a teammate

Bottom line:

How long have Lebron and Wade played in the league? How long does it take SCORERS to learn to shoot?
Should a nine year veteran have to use the bank from 6-8 feet out? Should a 5 year veteran not know how to post-up? How much effort does it take to learn to make threes (no, not I'm up 3-1 in a series and if I don't win who cares 3's against a defeated Chicago team who missed wide open shots the whole series)?

Wade and Lebron are being forced to kill themselves for one single reason: They can't shoot. Don't give me TS%, don't give me efficiency, don't give me any of that pap. We get they can jump. We get they can dunk. But not being barely able to shoot outside of 7-8 feet without being wide open against a zone is pathetic from the "HOF" talents of these two.

Where has the skill gone from the game? Where are the players who don't need to take four steps and have the league change the rule for them so they don't travel every other play?

Well to be fair Wade has improved his shot quite a bit.

Pointing at LeBron's flaw to score as if that was the sole reason the Heat lost to the Mavericks in the fourth quarter because it's not. The Heat had that 6-0 run because of LeBron continuously exposing Kidd and the Mavs' interior D where they could've capitalize with Bosh making his free-throw to give them a 4-point lead which they didn't and ended up leaving Jason Terry wide open for a three-pointer to tie up the game. With a one point lead there wouldn't have been much pressure. If we're going to rag one part of his game, be able to notice what he did well too.

And when you're being doubled, it's hard to score isn't it?

I think it was one possession where LeBron had Kidd one on one and pulled for a 17-foot jumpshot. One possession, LeBron pulled up for a three-pointer in transition with plenty of time on the shot clock, and the other, Tyson Chandler drew a charge on his baseline drive which IMO was a questionable call.

The Heat board is trying get anti-ref traction but there are too many reasonable people that post there to get any good momentum.

The Celtics' board still believe they would be undefeated in the playoffs if it was for the damn anti Celtics reffing!

I hope I don't have this wrong but I'm pretty sure it was Stevenson/Marion who was on him throughout the duration of the first half of the 4th until Dallas called that time-out and got Jason Kidd back on him. After that, it looked like LeBron didn't know what to do with Kidd guarding him (much like last game).

(PS, I did like what LeBron was doing in the first three and a half quarters. Don't get me wrong. He was playing a great all-around game despite not having his shot)

BTW, that charge wasn't questionable at all. Chandler had his feet set and since LeBron caught it within the Lower Defensive Box, it didn't matter whether or not his feet were within the Restricted Area

While I'm all for a good LeBron bashing, the man is an egomaniac douche, this thread needs more Mavs love! They've been playing some unreal ball, I literally cannot get enough Dirk! 1 more win!
