I still hope we trade down or out. This draft is hot garbage after pick #2. The hype machines are trying to change our minds but they're clutching at straws.

Dont think the Cavs GM want to do Lebron/Miami any favours....

Miami needs a post presence not another ball handler.

Doug says Tristan Thompson will be here tomorrow too.

But perhaps more interesting? He says the Raptors like Alec Burks (though Doug himself seems to believe he's a point guard):

http://thestar.blogs.com/raptors/2011/0 ... erest.html

Not sure if he’d be on the list of Raptor possibilities, or whether it’d be too much of a stretch to take him at No. 5 but one of the few names of collegians I heard around the locals this past spring was Alec Burks of Colorado.

A combo guard, maybe not ready to be a point guard in the NBA, he just has a way of making plays.

But don’t take that as gospel that they want him, just a name that hasn’t been bandied about too much and one I heard in the college season.

I like Burk, but not sure if he will turns out to be Weems 2.0.
If he can playmake like a PG, he could be a top 10 pick.
Unless we trade down, but I am still high on Bismack with his physical ability.

I'm not sure if that's all that is mentioned about Burks (I gotta run), but Doug in that paragraph doesn't mention anything about the Raptors liking Burks, only college people.

You're right, I think I might have misunderstood it -- I thought when he talked about "the locals," he was referring to Raptors management. I'm not sure who he is talking about, then, but I think you're right that I misread it.

Burks needs to pack on some weight, but his measurements were similar to Dwyane Wade and Brandon Roy:

Burks: 6'5" w/o shoes, 6'6" with shoes, 6'10" wingspan, 8'7.5" standing reach, 192lbs (5.1% body fat), 29" no-step vert, 36" max vert.

Wade: 6' 3.75" w/o shoes, 6' 4.75" w/shoes, 6' 10.75" wingspan, 8' 6" standing reach, 212lbs (6.7% body fat), 31.5" no step vert, 35" max vert.

Roy: 6' 5.25" w/o shoes, 6' 6.25" w/shoes, 6'8" wingspan, 8'5" standing reach, 207lbs (7.6% body fat), 34.0 no-step vert, 40.5" max vert.

In terms of production in their final years:

Burks: 20.5pts (46.9 FG%, 29.2 3P%), 7.9 FTA, 2.9 assists, 6.5 rebs in 31.4mpg. 29.1 PER, 58 TS%, 0.564 FTA/FGA, 14.6% assist rate, 12.9% turnover rate, 1.13 A/T ratio

Wade: 21.6pts (49.9 FG%, 33.3 3P%), 7.3 FTA, 4.6 asts, 6.4 rebs in 32.2mpg. 33.9 PER, 57 TS%, 0.497 FTA/FGA, 20.2% assist rate, 14.9% turnover rate, 1.35 A/T ratio.

Roy: 20.2pts (50.8 FG%, 40.2 3P%), 6.4 FTA, 4.1 asts, 5.6 rebs in 31.7mpg. 30.0 PER, 61 TS%, 0.470 FTA/FGA, 21.9% assist rate, 12.3% turnover rate, 1.78 A/T ratio.

measurements don't mean alot, look back on draftexpress combine measurements and rankings and see where they fall vs how players have done. The combine historically means zip

Burks isn't bad but he is no PG prospect, can't see why we would draft him when we already have demar. He won't be better than Demar.

I'm assuming the draft will go like this
1. Irving
2. Williams
3. Knight
4. Kanter

So it is pretty crucial that the buyout situation goes through especially for us since there's a strong chance of Jonas being available at the 5 spot
Masai's to do list
Trade - Ibaka

So Kwahi Leonard and Tristan Thompson go head to head from the sounds of in TO on wednesday. Should be a good match up.

If Knight is gone, please just trade down and grab Burks. I hate the idea of drafting Kemba and the euros.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Vesely dont get enough love here guys. Would love kanter or knight ... but after the top 4 ... Vesely is the best talent and a great fit in TO. he will shine in zone defense and fast break and he s gonna improve is 3pts shooting. Soo Vesely is the man,he s going to have 3x the impact of a kwahi leonard in the league.

Again, its not because of his talent, and I think a safe pick like him can go higher (#4 - #8), but we don't need another SF/PF. I don't think the Kings wants them neither, since they got Casspi. Using a high pick to get a redundant player, where their are still similar level of talent in the draft, is kind of a waste.

I think the writing is on the wall- KEMBA.

Absolutely huge pick for us to get a leader, a PG and a marketable player for us.

Yeah, that would be a huge addition to our backcourt. Deal Calderon or Bayless and you're looking at

Walker/Bayless or Calderon
Derozen/Burks

You're super thin and **** at the 3, but you've got assets to fill that hole.

I would use it for Bismack, and sign a veteran to help our guard/wing position.
A defensive player like Battier would be great to fill the backup SG/SF, and he should help DeRozan and Weems develop their defensive game with some team oriented offense (simply passing the ball and make use of screens).

New CNNSI mock has us taking Kemba Walker:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/w ... z1PGngxJds

With president and general manager Bryan Colangelo having received a contract extension recently, the word is that he might want to distance himself from the Euro-heavy reputation and go for an All-America like Walker. Point guard Jose Calderon has two pricey years left (combined $20.3 million), but Walker could fit in right away as a potent bench addition to play alongside DeMar DeRozan. Valanciunas, who held this spot in Mock 2.0, is still in play here along with Vesely. If Knight falls, Colangelo will take a hard look at him, too

I really hope we pick Kemba with the 5th pick. Also, I'm pretty sure that we'll always be a heavy Euro-influenced team as long as BC is here.
