nbadraft.net has an updated mock.

- Kyrie has moved back to # 1
- Knight back to # 3
- Kanter back to # 4
- Kemba has dropped to # 13

and..........................

- Raps now picking Jan Vesely at # 5.

The more the days go by the more I think BC is aiming to take this kid at 5. Especially if Knight & Kanter are gone with # 4 & 5.

Maybe acquiring a later lottery pick or mid 1st rounder is for Kemba ???

Do you also believe that Jimmer Fredette will be taken at 7?

If the Kings can't get Knight, Fredette is a pretty good fit, IMO. It would still afford Tyreke the freedom of a primary ball handler, while Fredette can spot up from anywhere in the half court.

Please no to Vesley. I rather take Jonas if we are going Euro. My choice is Knight/Kemba as top 5. No need for the rest since one is going to be there. If we get another 1st round pick, then Bismack, Jonas, Vesley.

Jimmer

Post#1145 » by Calderless » Tue Jun 14, 2011 6:29 pm

Reports our of Sactown suggest the Jimmer did well for himself at the Kings workout.... I fully expect the Kings to draft him at #7...why aren't the Raptors even working this guy out? He is just as good, if not better, than Stephan Curry.... the Raps are really missing the boat on this one... they don't need Kemba or Valen4#@$#%@#% or Vesley or BISMACK B#$@#$@#$@# or anyone else for that matter...they need to take a risk and nab Jimmer at 5...why hasn't that idiot BC worked this guy out yet?

I agree with everything you say except for drafting Jimmer.

the raptors need to get who/what they want from this draft. they don't have any game-changers and the draft, by default, is the only way they'll ever find one. if they're three spots below where they need to be, they need to make up those three spots somehow- by spending cash or taking back contracts, or by compromising their *gulp* depth. if they don't believe there's a game-changer anywhere in this class, they need to gtfo and continue building their asset base, if only to make a major splash on the trade scene in july using said assets.

either way, they can't settle right now. i wish the media would put more pressure on them to make a move for once, but my complaints have fallen on deaf ears since time out of mind. i can only hope they've learned from all their past complacency and delusional "evolution" and can finally start walking the walk. mind you, i don't expect this to happen, but one can hope.

all we do is settle, and now we've got a bunch of 'assets' who aren't very valuable (aren't very good?), nor do we even know how to use them. where is this strategy taking us again? get your man. flushing a $9.1 mm trade exception down the toilet is not what i call shrewd asset management.

and as i've said before, jan vesely is not your man. nor is jonas valanciunas. i don't care if these guys are nowitzki and sabonis- this market will not accept them, they'll be pronounced guilty before trial, they will not survive the poison in these waters. they will be crucified. they could work in 29 of 30 cities; they won't work in toronto. and it has nothing to do with them. and it has even less to do with me.

get your man.

That man is Jimmer...he will electrify the ACC...he'll be the face of the franchise overnight...this guy can play... and SacTown is gonna love him cuz BC's too much of a moron to open his mind and go away from the Euros

So looks like TT is coming in tomorrow for a workout. That is interesting on several accounts:

1. He is strictly a pf, can't play sf or c
2. He is a virtual clone of Easy Ed, their skill set is so similar it's eerie, which begs the question....
3. If he does as well tomorrow as he has in other workouts, does that allow BC to trade Easy Ed for another lottery pick, since we could essentially draft the Canadian version of him with one of the picks?

Why would we trade Ed for another pick just to pick another clone of him? lol.

No thanks, I think Kemba Walker/Demar Derozan/Ed Davis is a good start to sell tickets

Not really, it's not like TT is Steve Nash or anything.

Huh? I thought the point was self explanatory; apparently not. By all accounts TT, along with Jimmer and Brooks to a lesser extent have helped themselves the most in these workouts. There is no reason whatsoever that TT should be working out for us, since he is a pf and only a pf. However, by all accounts he is a clone of Easy Ed, so if you could trade ED for another lottery pick, you could get him right back with one of the picks in the form of Tristan.

In other words, you'd be trading Ed for another lottery pick and a Canadian Ed. Make sense now?

So, the only gain is "Canadian". And one more year on rookie-scale.

no.

no.

no.

the gain is another top ten pick. you trade Ed or make a package around Ed for ANOTHER pick...you draft knight or ANOTHER player...and THEN with number 5 you pick TT which by all accounts is projected to be the Canadian version of Ed.

are we all understanding this now? I can't do it any clearer than this.

You're right, I misspoke, my bad. Basically we'd trade ED for another lottery pick. That would leave us with a gaping hole at pf, but not if we replace him with TT with one of our picks. Basically it would be exchanging one Ed for another, but this one is from Toronto and said it is his dream to play for his hometown team. Sadly, the chances of ED leaving after his rookie contract are better than 50/50, but if you can get and Ed Davis clone who is from Toronto, than you're good to go. Sorry for being muddled in my posts.

You may not be able to do it any clearer than that, but I can. Right now we have
#5 pick
Ed Davis

We trade Ed Davis for the #8 pick. This gives us:

#5 pick
#8 pick

We use the # 5 on Kemba Walker, and the #8 on Canadian Ed Davis.

If we hadn't made the trade, we would have had Kemba Walker with the #5 pick and Ed Davis. After the trade, we have Kemba Walker with the #5 pick and Canadian Ed Davis. The only difference is "Canadian". Clearer?
