Not like we can match any offer for him under the current CBA, which is likely to be more open to player movement than the one that Ed will be dealing with when his rookie deal expires. Nope. Not at all. Totally plausible that we should give up a year of development on a more talented player because of that chance.

How do you know that Ed Davis is more talented than Tristan Thompson? I'm not saying that he isn't, he very well may be, but until TT has a full season under his belt we won't know. I love ED, and do not want to trade him at all, but if we could get a Canadian clone of him, who wants to play his entire career in T.O then you have to think long and hard about it.

I still have no clue as to why he's coming in tomorrow for a workout. That part is a mystery.

he's coming in for a workout because he's a projected lotto pick, and BC has spoken highly of him in a previous interview (although he did mention the fact that there's some duplication with Ed)

TT is a pf and only a pf, agreed? If so, the only position that we have zero need for is pf. Why on earth waste his and our time bringing him in, if something isn't at least being thought about?

Because you always draft the BPA, regardless of your depth charts. If TT came in and blew the management out of the water, they'd draft him and figure it out later.

I believe he said this because you said greater than 50/50 chance of leaving, wich isnt stated like an opinion more like a fact, and you dont have those facts to prove your point.

"oops"?

The same thing you do if the #5 pick turns out to be a bust. The draft is always a gamble. But TT's work ethic and skill set is off the chart. Read up on how he's done so far, he's getting rave reviews.

No, it's not the same thing.

If you keep Ed, then you're probably not drafting a PF at #5 because the BPA is likely not going to be a PF. If your draft pick busts, then you still have a functional PF in Ed Davis.

If you trade Ed for TT and TT busts, then you are short one PF. How is that the same thing?

ED was projected top 5 in a talent heavy draft prior to his injury. Not only is he the better prospect, he is proven as well. TT is projected at the end of the lottery in a weak draft, even if he stayed with Texas next year there is very little chance he is projected top 5 in next year's draft. TT is a good prospect as well, and I would love to have him on the Raptors, but you do not trade Ed Davis for him under any circumstance. If anything, you reach for TT at 5.

Yes. This. It's really tough for players to leave ater their rookie contracts. If you want to argue that we won't be able to keep Ed once he becomes an UFA, Sonrise, sure. The chances of that are higher. That's fairly far off, though.
Just draft a bloody C.

Great so now we're gonna have to be hearing about why we should take Cory Joseph over Kemba Walker now?

good workout, the only guys id like would be Leonard at around 10-13 (if he's there and we acquire another pick) or Tobias Harris 18-22 if we acquire another pick). But im not very big on them, still.

why does every mock draft have us taking Vesely?

Hes like the European Anthony Randolph. Watching youtube clips of him makes me cringe.

I'd take Kemba in a heartbeat over him and I hope BC agrees.

Seriously, all his highlights consist of him dunking on the fast break or off ally oops. I can't see him being much more than a energy player off the bench.

I'm highly against taking Vesley also. He's not going to be better then James Johnson so why draft him?

He'll be a damn good energy player but that's what a second first round pick in a crapshoot draft is for
