6th is bad enough in this draft but it's even worse for the Wiz. Why? Because the top 6 prospects (going on my informal consensus mock draft compilation) are: Irving, Williams, Kanter, Knight, Valanciunas, and Walker. So - one PF/SF who will definitely be gone before #6, two Cs and three PGs. And assuming the Wiz don't trade McGee (thus committing to him on some level), the ONLY two positions they can look at and feel fairly set are..... PG and C.
So whoever falls out of the top 6 is almost certain to duplicate one of the few positions of strength for the team.
And to make matters worse, PG and C are the two positions where it is most difficult to platoon or slide guys over. Kidd/Barea notwithstanding, two PGs on the court for extended time is only marginally better than playing two QBs in football. And while PFs often masquerade as Cs in this league, having two actual Cs play together just doesn't work out too well, unless one of them has such an unusual skillset that he's not really a C in the first place (a la Duncan).
FWIW, I think/hope that Kanter can be enough of a PF to avoid that difficulty, and would be ecstatic for the Wiz to pick him. I think he could play enough time at PF next to McGee to alleviate that problem. Jonas, on the other hand....not so much.
So hold on to 6. Wait for Kanter. If he's not there, start shopping whoever's left (maybe Kemba, possibly Jonas). Move back. Take Singleton (my pick). Take shooters/scorers with the later picks. Hire Dakota Dave to coach the young'ins. And hope for signs of progress in the coming 24 months.
Not exciting, but there you have it.
