Are we really that certain Knight will be better than Bayless? I really don't want us to pass on Biyombo.

Yeah, I'm getting to there. Just listened to the Thorpe interview on RaptorsRepublic, and it's quite interesting. He pumps up Alabi cuz of course he's working out with him, as well as Biyombo and Ed Davis. But it's nice to think that if we don't get a legit C this time, Alabi might actually develop into something (talk about found money at this stage).

But his last comment is about Knight, who apparently has an "off-the-charts", Kobe-esque work ethic and a uniquely great shot. Thorpe's point is, don't worry about the Hollinger analytics crap - Kentucky was using a different system at the beginning of the year that wasn't meshing with Knight.

I hope BC gets a second pick, but it's not looking good.

Grantland: Do you have a girlfriend?

Biyombo: Yeah, for sure! I met her at a house party, hanging out with some friends. She lives in Madrid. But now is the NBA draft, and I don't know what's going to happen. I came back from [the Hoops Summit in] Portland so excited, but also sad because I know that moving to the U.S. means maybe leaving my girlfriend. We've been together 6 or 7 months. We say "I love you" to each other. And I invited her to move to America with me. But she's young — she's 18, same as me — and she might want to stay in Spain with her family. If she doesn't want to move, I told her I understand, that's no problem, but the United States is like another world, and being there for the first time is gonna be difficult. I need someone next to me. If she's not gonna come, I told her I'm gonna have to catch up with someone over there. It was hard to tell her that, but I'm not gonna lie to her and say, "I love you," and keep things going and then she finds out I'm doing something wrong. I like to talk to people face-to-face and be honest. Sometimes that means people want to punch me out, but at least, hey, they know the truth. I don't want people to say, "Oh, this guy lied to me." I want them to say, "I have respect for him." So I talk straight to people. That's just the way I am.

The best part about that interview was when he had to emphasize he was 18. I still don't believe him.

Seems like a really nice dude, but he not a very good basketball player, so i don't want him..

I don't like Knight, but I don't really like anybody. This draft depresses me.

If the pick is Knight, I hope he is here to play backup to Tony Wroten Jr. or Myck Kabongo.

Impossible, unless Irving, D Williams or Kanter dropped.
I don't see we are taking Bismack at #5, but we might trade down.
Even we draft Jonas Val and trade him for a Bismack, that would be a better deal.

People talk about Kentucky's system not working with Knight a lot, but will ours? I like Casey defensively, but I don't get the impression that he has much of a clue on offense.

Wtf? Just a day ago most of the board was hoping for Knight to fall and now that there is a very likely chance that may happen.....people don't want him? People are weird.

I'd trade a 2013 pick (definitely NOT a 2012 one) for Biyombo/Val, but I'd want more than top 3 protection on it. Maybe top 5, top 7. I think with BC, we're more or less a lock to at least be back to treadmill status by then--that would be his final season before the team makes a decision on him.

I don't know I like upside and all, but I also want a sure thing. What I am hearing about Val is both... If we get Knight I hope BC could get another pick for one of these two guys (BB/Val)

If there's any year to take a Valunciunas, this is it - we don't need him right away since we're in the midst of a rebuild, it's a terrible draft & there could very well be a lockout next year. It would suck to wait a year for him to come over though.

Yesterday I compiled a spreadsheet that measured Height, Reach and blocks/48 (player has to play at least 20 mins a game). The results were that Reach plays a bigger factor then height when it comes to blocked shots (correlation was higher with reach vs height). Bismack's reach is pretty darn huge and compares with centers around the league. The fact that he is shorter would likely make it easier to guard smaller players as well.

I also made the same comparison with rebounds/height/reach and noticed that there isn't much correlation with either reach/height when it comes to rebounding.

this is the most divided draft for raptors fans i have ever seen. in part because of the parity of the draft and in part because we have so many needs.

First, he's probably not 19. I'd venture to say that you don't appreciate age-related deception if you haven't lived overseas.

Second, they take this guy over Tristan (I'm assuming JV is gone), then I'll be calling for BC's head about 20 games into the next season.

The majority want him, but obviously there are going to be a few people that aren't convinced he's the one.

What about straight up man-to-man post defense though? We all know he can block shots & rebound, I think the bigger concern would be getting pushed around in the post due to his size.

I'm disappointed Val isn't in the discussion. He is easily a better prospect than both.
