I am still not buying UTA taking Kanter at 3. I think this is a smokescreen designed to get CLE to swap picks 3/4 to save a few bucks just like the VC/Jamison deal Toronto did years ago. CLE is using VAL as their own smokescreen in hopes UTA folds and just takes Knight.
Obviously I can't know this for certain but it feels that way to me.

If that were 100% true he'd be drafted much higher. I don't buy it he smells like a bust

To be honest his buyout situation is scaring a lot of teams off.

He had a rebound rate of 22.3% last year. Thats 1% less than Kevin Love and players from Europe who come over have their rebound rate go up by 30%. So the guy is clearly going to be a top rebounder and a good shot blocker. Unlike Bargnani he has heart and he plays hard everytime hes on the floor. Hes also a good free throw shooter and hes been working on his jumper. He also has terrific hands and unlike Biyombo there isnt a major chance that he will bust.

Even with a potential lockout looming? I doubt it.

I'm not sold on a rail thin centre coming over here and having an impact.

With all due respect to those who think we can sign a good big C, it's been pretty clear Jordan, Gasol and Chandler will all get big contracts and/or stay with their teams. All 3 are on teams that are either really good or up and coming. Greg Oden will likely also get a big contract despite not showing he can even play half a season in the NBA due to his health problems. I wouldn't sign him to anything.

They only make taking Bismack more acceptable.

You might want to check out Givony's tweets or Ford's mock drafts. The one thing scaring most people off is his buyout. Im not even anti Bismack. I just think that our track record developing raw bigs is horrible and we will probably butcher his development. He needs a ton of work and we dont have the veterans or the coaching staff to pull that off.

Get used to it. I think we'll be seeing Bismack putting on that Raptors cap tonight.

Nice so here's a list of good comparison of Biyombo:
Salomon Alabi
Saere Sene
Disagne Diop
Joel Anthony
Nath Jawai

Add in the fact of our track record for developing Raw big man the chances are he'll remain a bust.
Masai's to do list

If he ends up with Bismack, then it will go down as his worst draft since 2000..

How are those good comparisons for him?

Biyombo's less of a project than people think. He doesn't foul and he's a beast shotblocker and solid rebounder. Why won't he do any of these things in the NBA right away, even at 10-12 minutes a game at first? Why is someone like Farried considered an instant NBA ready talent in some areas but Biyombo is not? Comparing Farried's rebounding to Biyombo's shotblocking-- they're both at elite NBA ready levels.

It's not like he's going to get overwhelmed by the pace or athleticism, since he plays with a high motor and seems to have solid IQ on the defensive end of the ball including the ability to recover and alter shots mid-air because of his freak wingspan and good athleticism. He's a big mobile defensive center and pretty much the ideal when considering a prospect with franchise-changing defensive potential. If I had to create a prospect from scratch that could emerge into a defensive force, he'd look a lot like Biyombo and play a lot like Biyombo.

I'm starting to warm up a bit to Bismack. Because the reality is, the likelyhood is that whoever we draft at 5 won't be anything more than a good roation player or decent starter. Yes, the bust potential is higher with BB compared with other prospects, but his upside is off the charts and if things go well for him, he can become a very rare NBA commodity.

That being said, if Knight is there at 5, I'd take him over BB.

Not taking Kemba is going to haunt BC for the rest of his life. LOL okay I'm kidding but I say we badly need someone like Kemba. He's as quick as a PG gets.
