thats cause Iggy isn't worth what he's paid, if he was such the "asset" that everyone claims he is there wouldn't be rumors of his trade year after year. Youd think a team that just came off a decent season and making the playoff would want to keep a 27 yr old entering his prime.

Not when they have a plethora of young talent they need to resign in the future. Iggy and Jrue Holiday just can't coexist on the floor at the same time, they take a lot away from eachother. In order for them to allow Jrue to thrive and open up minutes for Evan Turner in the future, they'll be willing to deal him.

He is a very good player and would be an amazing complement to our team. He's more than capable of being a point-forward on the floor as well, taking away full playmaking duties from Kobe.

Keep in mind that Laker trades never leak.

This leads me to believe that it is simply not gonna happen.

I wouldn't do it anyway. I prefer size. We can get a good swingman without giving up one of our core players. Chemistry is everything.

Phi was rumored to shop Iggy even before they got Turner and knew how he turned out....given Turner lack luster rookie season youd think Philly would be a lil hesitant bout dumping Iggy but that hasn't been the case....ever since season ended for Philly Iggy trade rumor was rampant and made it sound like they're desperate to dump him. While I do agree he what this team needs, its is however a luxury to have Iggy, seeing as how Artest is more then adequate on D. Losing Odom creates a HUGE hole with our backup big and bench.

I've been saying it for years now ... Iguodala is a PG. He's also a SF and SG, but he can start for us at PG ... and please don't say he can't guard PGs ... he can!

Iguodala is the same player as Westbrook except Iguodala's taller and way more unselfish.

I'd start Iguodala at PG in a heartbeat and bring a bunch of shooters off the bench.

I am all for this deal.

It's a little too good to be true, but Phila may envision Odom as the piece at PF, next to Brand, at center, that will completely SOLIDIFY them and put them in a position to turn Holiday and Evans loose.

If this goes down, the Lakers are bigger pimps than I've ever imagined.

The Lakers would just need to fill-out a bench.

My bench would look like this (please don't beat me up about Gasol as a sixth man--you know how I feel about him coming off the bench like Kevin McHale ... more spark/better balance):

PG - Blake
SG - Delonte West (the most important signee this offseason) - Fisher
C - Gasol - Erik Dampier (any reliable 3rd string center will do)
PF - Troy Murphy (a critical and vital 4th big with a lethal jumper)
SF - Sasha Pavlovic (more spark and jumpshooting off the bench)- Matt Barnes

This is a tremendous second unit chalk-full of minimum contract dudes (West, Murphy, Pavlovic, Dampier).

Gasol is the clear first option, with West as his #2. Pavlovic, Murphy, and Blake provide more shooting.

***On a sidenote: If Odom is dealt, Chuck Hayes should be our starting PF !!! (a near-minimum player who would be a lot cheaper than Kenyon Martin)
Give him 22 minutes to do his thing.

I'd like Iggy. We need to get younger, more athletic, playmaking, and perimeter D. He gives us all of that. His scoring was down some this season, but I think if he can stay healthy (only played 67 games this season), he can get back up to about 17/6/6. Then you try to move Artest for a PG. Mo Williams, Jameer Nelson, Devin Harris, George Hill? I think these teams (LAC, ORL, NJ, SA) could find good use for Artest.

although i would like shaking things up on our team.. i dunno bout giving any one of our 3 bigs for a sf. iggys good but hes not a great shooter. he has his positives but we need some outside shooting and brickuodala was a great name to describe his shooting. yeah above avg passer/wing defender for sf, but we lose a ultra versatile big in odom and pau already complained about not having enough quality bigs in the rotation. IF we get speights.. IM DOWNNN. tho adding walton would be sweeeet, hey i aint paying the bills so in my eyes.. i see odom for iggy.. and i dont like it much.. unless we go out and definitely get a quality big.

If the Lakers can find enough shooting to compliment Iggy that would be scary. I think you guys would love Iggy.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

Kobe and Iggy shoot almost same percentage..so should we call Kobe Kobrick? I don't understand why you guys value Odom so much. Last time I saw Odom couldn't shoot just like Iggy. So what are we really losing? Isn't defense what we need? Not just some tall guy that can stand in the paint and use up 6 fouls because his ass barely jumps to contest a jump shot?

Whatever I might get bashed for this because so many people are Odom lovers for some odd reason. But in my opinon Iggy is better than Odom.

The Iggy move isn't about shooting, it's about defense and athleticism.

Is it me? Or are the Lakers willing to trade any player (not named Kobe)?

If we trade Odom then I'd want to get back a PF to replace him. Hopefully if we trade Odom,Walton and picks we get back Iggy,Speights, and the #16. I'd then trade Speights,#16 and Blake for the #10 and Gooden. It seems that Kemba Walker could slip if he is not picked by the Kings. If we could get him at #10 that would be huge.

So is that your opinion of Odom, a tall guy for 6 fouls? wow ignorance is bliss I guess  and Iggy is better then Odom at certain things, just like Odom is better at certain things. Like I said, getting Iggy is only covering up half a hole, where Artest is servicable while losing the only GOOD bench guy. As for the other poster with all suggestion "surrounding" iggy with Shooters and signign those has-been, wtf is this going to be Clev where we make Iggy become Lebron and everybody stand in the corner and let Iggy dominate the ball? :-?

Personally I don't think this would be a good trade for the Lakers as I think Odom is underrated and Iguodala is underrated.

I like Igudola, just not at the expense of Odom.

Iggy made more sense when we were running the triangle with Phil, you know the old Kobe and Iggy instead of Michael and Scottie scenario...

However, with the Lakers, that does not make sense. The Lakers need to have a much higher volume of their shots taken inside by the bigs, Bynum and Gasol. There are only so many shots to go around and with our inside game and the salary they absorb, the Lakers can really only have one big time, wing, volume shooting player, and that's Kobe.

Adding any other wing player that is going to need ten or more shots per game, just would not fit into what the Lakers are trying to or should do.

Obviously, it appears the Lakers may not have been as impressed with Odom's Sixth Man Season and/or the Khloe and Lamar Show, or he is just the piece they are most willing to move that has real value across the league.

I say keep Odom. While I love Bynum, he has never been healthy for a whole season and Gasol is the ultimate Bynum insurance and to have Odom available to start at the four, or handle all the reserve power positon minutes, to me is a formidable luxury.

We still have the MLE (new CBA rules unlikely to take effect this summer/season) and draft picks to try and upgrade the point and add a shooter.

Management is not trading Bynum. We're building around Andrew as our defensive anchor. We’re building around the twin towers of him and Pau.

Odom is the only piece worth much of anything and with his expiring, reasonable contract, championship experience, and coming off his best season this is the best time to do it.

Odom and Pau have been the most crucial tandem in our championship runs...but it's time we refocus the team toward Pau and Bynum as risky as that may seem.

The problem with going forward with Odom and Pau is that Pau can no longer be expected to play so much time at center, IMO. He's been playing out of position for the past 4 years and we saw what that strain can do.

If we can trade an aging Odom for a guy like Iggy (27) then it gives our core some more balance in terms of age. Bynum at 23, Iggy at 27, Pau at 30, and Kobe at 32...I like that dispersion.

This also gives us a prime-time perimeter defender that can be the guy guarding Chris Paul rather than Kobe when Fish’s creaking legs are even slower. I think it's apparent we can't find an acquirable PG to suit our needs so this is the next best thing to help take the play-making load off of Kobe. It's not like if we get Iggy he won't know what his role will be. Distributor-defender. I’m not worried about him needing to jack up shots.

So, yes it’s going to breakup our bigman rotation that’s been so successful…but, it just may be time.
