Correct me if I'm wrong but Barnes was never expected to go # 1 even if he did declare this year, right?

I suspect Minny would have taken him at #2. Almost no chance Utah passes at #3. In the end it turned out well for us with him not declaring. I had Barnes ranked as the top prospect in April so it's nice to still have a shot at him next year.

Great point - there's no way he would have dropped to us and it's not like we would have picked Kanter or Thompson over Jonas (from the rumours anyways...).

He'd be a great fit on this team if we can win the lottery next year.

This is HB in his recent CP3 camp, it was nice hearing him facing Durant 1 on 1 8-)

Harrison sounds like Columbus Short. Anyways, getting KD to game point? That's sick!

I'm glad now that he didn't come out. He would've went top 3 easily, and we would've felt much worse about dropping in the lottery.

I want Myck Kabongo! Cause he seems like a right fit with JV.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

assuming it made sense from a talent/BPA perspective, I think that would be a great outcome for us. One thing Myck has mentioned that he's been working on in preparation before going to Texas is his pick and roll play...having a huge target with great hands and finishing ability like Jonas (and Amir/Ed too) would be awesome in that regard, especially paired with a guy with Myck's speed, ballhandling ability, and court vision.

Any of Barnes, Davis, Miller, Gilchrist, and maybe Jones, Beal, Thomas, Kabongo, Lamb, or possibly Drummond if he's eligible would be so good. Or if that awesome Croatian guy is eligible, but I don't think so.

Hopefully that 2 year rule doesn't go into effect. So many freshman look damn good.

the thing is IF we get a top 5 pick, perhaps 2nd or 3rd pick, will we use that pick on Kabongo which most likely will be in the 5-11 range

As long as it's not Patric Young, I'm ok with it.

I voted Barnes but I do also like Miller and Gilchrist so for me, it's gonna come down to who has the better college career. However, I do have a few issues with each of them.

Barnes lacks good ball handling and can't create his own shot
Miller seems to have lost a bit of explosiveness
Gilchrist is good at everything but not great at anyone thing

So for that reason my 2012 wishlist goes Barnes, Miller then Gilchrist (obviously barring college careers). I don't want to move Ed at all so I'm not looking forward to a secondary lottery pick. However, I think if we move Bargnani to the right team at the right time, he could net us a pick right outside of the lottery (New Orleans, Atlanta, Houston are some possibilities). With that pick, I think Kendall Marshall would be a great addition to our team, especially if we luck out with Barnes. I think it's too early to say he goes #1 overall because he was pegged there this year and we saw how he struggled. Hopefully luck comes our way with this one because I do agree he is the best fit for our team.

I have a gut feeling we will be taking Barnes, with a 6-8 pick. Just seems like the BC thing to do with this present team. Great character, great fit with Derozan, and possibly a "we got him a little lower than we thought we would because he's still developing" type pick like Demar

I still think Barnes is a 3pt/finish/defend Deng type at the next level but that would be a sweet pickup with the 6th pick or something.

Adonis Thomas is a SF who hasn't been mentioned as much as Gilchrist, Barnes, Miller, etc. but is right with them. Very little separating him and Gilchrist and particular.

I think we're going to see a big improvement in Barnes and I expect him to go 1st overall, or at the very least top 3. I know that's just an opinion, but he seems like such a competitor and winner. I'd be thrilled if we could get him.

Barnes, I think staying back another year to improve was the smartest choice for him. His freshman year was inconsistent, hopefully he can really show what he's made of in his second year.

I'm not on the Barnes will go off bandwagon. I see two major problems with that. One is I don't think he has natural on ball iso skills. Two is oppurtunity. He's playing on a stacked UNC team with in all liklihood the best scoring freshman in the NCAA in McAdoo playing PF and having a freshman Beasley/Melo type year. UNC should be great because everyone has a single role. Marshall the distributer, Henson the shotblocker, McAdoo the post scorer and Barnes the outside bomber/floor spreader. I think that's how it will be. Even if Barnes drops 18ppg, if it's just on 3s and spot up shots I don't think teams will be estatic about it, if guys like Miller, P Jones III, McAdoo, Beal are having dynamic seasons
