I don't really see what's so appealing about Davis. What makes him any different from a guy like Anthony Randolph, who is another athletic guy with ballhandling ability and a very narrow frame?

That guy, IMO, is Barnes right now until we see one of these other kids like Gilchrist/McAdoo/Davis/et all play some games.
Gilchrist also has a really poor handle and he's a bit undersized for small forward. In some respects, his weaknesses are too similar to those of Derozan.

I think he's more polished, so he's more of a sure thing, and Anthony Randolph is a guy who - with time, effort and the right coaching - had Garnett-level potential.
Davis is also smart. Randolph's biggest problem was that he was a complete basketball-retard. Davis could very well be what Anthony Randolph was supposed to be, which is a perennial superstar.

So can a "random" dude come to practise film everything and sent to scouts?

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread
I'm all about Barnes but Jared Sullinger, Anthony Davis or McAdoo could enable us to trade Ed for a good SF or PG. I'm not overlooking anyone at this point. Gilchrist and Q Miller still have a ton to prove so it's a bit early to jump on their bandwagons. It'll be interesting to see how much Perry Jones improves beside Quincy with LaceDarius Dunn gone. If one of the guards jumps into the top pick discussion then they must be pretty special. I don't think it'll be Myck, he'll likely fall because of his size (unless he has a spectacular season). I wouldn't put it past Teague or Rivers. Plus I'd expect at least one of T-Jones, Lamb, Beal, and Adonis to surprise us. It's really too early to discuss this but NCAA ball will be fun next season.

What's wrong with Kabongo's size? Yes, he's very thin, but he's got good height at 6'2'' and he has a 6'6'' wingspan.

He's rail thin but I didn't realize he was 6'2". He looked tiny compared to most of his class, maybe it's because he's so quick?

Yeah, he definitely needs to add some weight but, like you mentioned, he's very quick.
I like him because of his vision and passing ability. He projects to be a very true point guard.
Harrison Barnes is still my number one choice though, at the moment.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread
I'm excited about next years draft... as long as we have a top 7 pick I'll be more than happy. Hopefully we can get one of those SF's, preferably Barnes... but there's a lot of talent available and we have a chance to come out with a great player. I'm kind of hoping that Kabongo plays amazing next season and proves to be one of the better players in the draft class... he would be a match made in heaven for the Raptors.

Ya man I'm hoping that as well. Kabongo said once on a podcast I listened to a few years ago saying his dream is to be drafted by the Raptors and play for his hometown team. We'll see what happens.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread
Let's assume the entire season is locked out and the draft is done in order from worst record in the 2010-11 season to the best record. The top-3 would be the Clippers (own Minny pick), Cavaliers and Raptors. So who does LA and Cleveland pick in front of us, assuming everything stays exactly the same as it is right now or course. I'd say:
1) Clippers - Harrison Barnes
Anthony Davis is projected to go #1 overall, but let's be honest here; unless he really separates himself the Clips can go for a bigger need in Barnes since they already have Blake Griffin.
2) Cavaliers - Quincy Miller
Extremely confusing pick here with the selection of Thompson. At this point they would not have even seen Thompson play, which makes me wonder if they take Davis if they feel he's a Centre prospect. As of right now, I'll go with the guy who fills another gaping hole in their line-up.
3) Raptors - Michael Gilchrist.
Wow. We got Ed Davis and Colangelo's love child Bargnani at the Power Forward, not to mention Amir. Do we go with Anthony Davis? I really don't know. I say 3 small forwards go in the top-3 if things set up like this. It's weird to see Davis drop out of the top-3 but in a draft this deep can you be shunned for going with a great talent in a position of need over the BPA? I think so.
4) Wizards - Anthony Davis
He falls into their laps and put an epic front court of Davis/McGee out there every night.
MAN is this draft stacked with Power Forwards, just the position we don't need. I'd s**t myself if we got Gilchrist though, he's a talent.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread
I highly doubt Colangelo trades for a 2nd (high) pick in the 2012 draft. Not only because of the fact that he's never actually bought another first round pick despite all his talk every year, but also because we'd be bringing in 3 rookies in the same season, all but ensuring that we'd be a lottery team for the next two years after that. Colangelo only has a two year extension, so I can't see him continuing the tank indefinitely.
Next draft we should have a higher pick than this season, so we definitely need to come out with a franchise type player who has All-Star/Superstar potential. Whether that will be Quincy Miller, Anthony Davis, Harrison Barnes, or Andre Drummond (if he declares) remains to be seen, but we should swing for the fences. Guys like Sullinger, Rivers and Glichrist really don't strike me as becoming Tier 1 guys.

I'm not sure they are, but they wouldn't necessarily be bad picks. I'm in it for the future of the Raps, not Colangelo...although he'd make the picks (I know). A guy like Quincy Miller scares me because he seems like the type of guy who would rather whine to a ref than get back on defense. Barnes, Davis and Drummond seem like good kids from what I've seen though.
Imagine Barnes falling into our laps and then getting someone like Drummond in 2013? Jizz.

I don't have an accurate answer, but I do think the only accurate question here would involve the word 'still'.
