Thanks. I was sort of making a joke about BC's record...you weren't actually wrong is your phraseology...but I appreciate the edit.

well if it makes someone understand the qoustion better I have no problem changing it, but most of the time second rounders are useless.

Cool, and don't disagree, really. I'd maybe argue that in our situation second rounders, useless as they are, might be more viable shots at long term success than the older talent BC usually gets for them, but it's insignificant enough that I don't care all that much, and just think it's more a running joke illustrating BC's philosophical leanings.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread
Not overlooking anyone at this point but if we do end up with a high pick in next year's draft, we need to go with the best Small Forward available, IMO.
We desperately need a two-way wing player on this team, like a go-to guy and I think that it could be ng either Barnes or Miller. That's going to depend on the seasons they have this year. I worry about Barnes not being able to show his true colors due to playing on a stacked UNC team.
On the other hand, Miller seems to also have all the skills we're looking for in a SF except his defense which I sure hope improves. The things that worry me are his ACL injury and his cockiness which could be a serious cancer in the NBA locker room. I strongly believe that if we do go SF with our pick, it will be one of these guys.
Gilchrist looks good but he has struggles scoring. I think he's be better fit for a team like Washington or even Phoenix. With all that said, this IS a draft where you start looking at moving future protected picks + assets to get an extra picks in. I think that a package of Bargnani + a 2013 lotto-protected pick should be enough to get it done (depending on the team of course). But a draft of Barnes/Miller + Kabango/Wroten/Marshall/Teague would be .....crazy.
My PG preference goes Wroten, Teague, Kabongo, Marshall. Hopefully we keep Bayless and Johnson and we'd really be on our way.

I'm not sure they are, but they wouldn't necessarily be bad picks. I'm in it for the future of the Raps, not Colangelo...although he'd make the picks (I know). A guy like Quincy Miller scares me because he seems like the type of guy who would rather whine to a ref than get back on defense. Barnes, Davis and Drummond seem like good kids from what I've seen though.
Imagine Barnes falling into our laps and then getting someone like Drummond in 2013? Jizz.
Not just whine to a ref but keep saying "ITS EASY" to Kobe or lebron after scoring a bucket on them. If there is one guy who can piss off everybody on the court big time, that person has to be Quincy Miller.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread
We REALLY REALLY need to try to acquire at least one more pick in this draft. Even if it is non-lotto. As bad as Bargnani's reputation might be (atleast around here, and most of the raps fanbase), there has to be someone out there who values him enough as a scorer to give up a decent pick. Some GMs don't want to enter a crapshoot, and would rather opt-out for a sure thing. We can even arrange us getting back an undesirable contract, if that's what it takes. Walking out of this draft with a SF and PG would be amazing. Barnes/Perry Jones and Kabongo/Wroten, can you imagine?

Renardo Sidney?
If that is who you are talking about there is ZERO chance MLSE will draft someone of his character.

My draft board:
Quincy Miller
Michael Gilchrist
Harrison Barnes
Perry Jones (I think he's actually a SF. He's quick enough to guard SFs and I don't think he'll ever be strong enough to guard most PFs).
Tony Wroten
Kabongo
Quincy Miller
Michael Gilchrist
Harrison Barnes

I wouldn't mind having this guy. Wouldn't u want to see him get into a fight with Andrea? We need someone to piss Andrea off, that's our guy!

If the lockout is for the whole year, then it will be a heck of a race for Rookie of the Year 2012/13 yr.

Seems like Kentucky will be a power house next year with the following players signed on:
Anthony Davis
Marquis Teague
Micheal Gilchrist
Terrence Jones (returning)

Don't forget about Doron Lamb! He was a McDonald's All-American and had a decent freshman season. He's a 3 point sniper. He is also projected to go first round.

AD is part of the 2012 class but because he stayed in HS an extra year he's been put into the 2013 class. I know he was trying to get re-classified so that he could be eligible with his own class but not sure of the outcome.
He meets the age restriction but not sure about the "1 year removed from HS" rule.

What's the likely hood BC drafts a guy like Drummond with Valanciunas on the roster? I'd say it's highly unlikely.

Who knows, the players' union wants to lower the age limit back to 18. Of course the owners want it increased to 20 but they'll probably just end up settling with the current age limit of 19.

I wouldn't mind having two potentially dominant centers, at least one will likely pan out. If both do, we have a major trading chip on a rookie contract.

Well, I agree with you, but there may be a difference between what we want and what BC wants.
