You are correct, sir, I was clearly not paying attention when Portuguese football was being taught :-)

Rumoured $25m for a guy who's played 5 months of good football in his life?

We got ~$60m for Cesc and Nasri, and that's about enough.

Exactly my thoughts on it as well. Nasri was amazing this past season...but that's the only time he's ever been a top tier player. Obviously he's young, but IMO he was just playing out of his mind.

Aquilani on loan with option to buy to Milan subject to medical. I am not sure how I feel about this. Hopefully being back in his home country will revitalize him similar to his loan to Juve last season. I have never been sold on him though.

Nasri with parting shots at Arsenal fans

"Arsenal have good fans but not that passionate since they moved from Highbury to the Emirates. I remember when we played against City, when we lost 3-0, the crowd was amazing.

"That is what I want. When you play football it is for a good atmosphere."

EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal fail with Kaka loan move as Real Madrid insist on permanent deal

Arsenal have had a loan bid rejected for Real Madrid midfielder Kaka.

Manager Arsene Wenger tried to act quickly to appease fans in the wake of Samir Nasri’s move to Manchester City, which followed Cesc Fabregas’s switch to Barcelona.

But his bid for the Brazilian former World Player of the Year on a season-long loan was dismissed.

Wenger must now decide whether to try and buy Kaka, with Real boss Jose Mourinho known to be keen to off-load him.

Real want to get his £153,000-a-week salary off the books. They will want at least £17.5million.

Signing Kaka, 29, would be a statement of intent by Wenger, although the Frenchman would be loath to spend so much on a player with little resale value.

Kaka is settled in Madrid but featured just 20 times for Real last season.

Paris Saint-Germain and Sao Paulo have also enquired.

Still think it makes sense. PR > all atm.

Supposedly we DID make a $6m bid for Cahill.

http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... ill_offer/

Coyle said on Friday morning: "There was a conversation between Phil Gartside and a representative of Arsenal. I'm only passing this on as a third party, but the word "derisory" doesn't even cover it.

"When I make an offer for a player, I'd like to think in the right ball park, but this wasn't even close.

"I spoke to Gary Cahill about it before the Macclesfield game, and he knows everything that's going on."

lol. Initial offer of 6M for Cahill this late into the transfer window. I don't think Arsenal's gonna sign another player this summer

Apparently it was 6 million plus add ons. I think it is a fair offer. Cahill is in last year of his contract and Bolton are desperate to sell. If Clichy goes for 7, I think it is a fair offer. There is no competition either so, Bolton either will sell or lose him on free.

Wenger is disputing that the offer was at 6M. Regardless there has to be a pretty big gap between the two sides for Bolton to be taking shots.

Firmly believe United's business in the market is done (with David Gill saying so yesterday), disappointing considering how when Rooney agreed to stay, I expected a few big names coming to the club and I've obviously been on the Sneijder watch for the majority of the summer. Happy with our haul in De Gea, Young and Jones, but still feel we don't have what it takes to beat Barca/Madrid if we meet in the CL. Hopefully we can win the league this season and get a definite look into our future. It's also about time Anderson got put under pressure to produce, been 4 years since we bought him for about 20M pounds, he's been pretty solid but we need to see a better return on our investment (still only 23 though). And with regards to Cleverley, I'm happy he's a guy that's come up through the system and with his various loan spells will appreciate the opportunity to prove his worth. He's got skill so let's see how it works out.

And although our business in terms of purchasing might be done, we still need resolutions on the Gibson/Macheda/Diouf front. Gibson hasn't been part of the plan at all, but injuries have hurt any potential transfer. Macheda/Diouf I'm not so sure about, there were strong rumours in July we had sold Diouf to Blackpool, guess it didn't work out. And I'd love to loan Macheda to a team in the PL and get him some more experience, let's see if anything comes to fruition as David Moyes was scouting our reserves match against Swansea yesterday (Macheda scored, Diouf scored twice).

According to Twitter, Lille will announce Hazard's departure to Arsenal soon, possibly tonight. Got a feeling this rumour came from a dodgy google translate job though

That 6 mil + add ons for Cahill is a proper joke. If Wenger starts his transfer business like this no one's going to even take his calls.

That's like someone bidding 10 mil for Wilshere. Cahill is young, English and a quality defender that's already part of the England set up. I really doubt you'd get for anything less than 15 - 20 mil.

The guy is in last year of his contract. There is no one else bidding for his services. I think 6+4 million in add ons will be a fair offer.

Liverpool already lodged a bid, if Wenger offers 6 mil, I'm pretty sure Redknapp would like to get involved or may be even City is looking for a central defender. His contract expires at the end of next season, so they still have 2 more transfer windows to get something for him.

Its more ridiculous considering that Bolton bought him for 5 mil in 2008 before he was even proven in the league and now has a 17 mil release clause on his contract.

Lastly please do not compare him to Clichy, Arsenal fans thought it was addition by subtraction when he left.

Yes, Twitter nearly exploded last night after a French paper reported the clubs agreed to a fee of 35m euro. But the story has not been carried, or even acknowledged by, anyone else at this point.

It's pretty obvious at this point that the current Arsenal squad will have to fight really hard, and stay really healthy if we even get healthy, to finish fourth. But if Ryo and Ox are expected to make contributions, the last thing we need is another winger. We certainly could use a striker for RvP insurance because Chamakh looks a lost cause at this point. And we need a CM--either a DM style, to allow Wilshere to move into an attack position, or a creative CAM. I'm a fan of Alan Dzagoev, who seems like he'd be a typical Arsenal signing.

Also I think the need for CB is a bit overstated. We only need depth behind Vermaelen and Koscielny, who are a good enough starting pair.
