Re: *NEW* Retro Scavenger Draft - LamarMatic's pick
I pick one of the all-time hardest workers in John Stockton from the Lockdown category.
Could be the prime example for a true point guard, great defender, humble and great team-mate. I'm also trying to continue to build a tough team with the pick of Stockton (got to say that it was very difficult to decide between him and Isiah).

Re: *NEW* Retro Scavenger Draft - Countryboi's pick
Before LeBron was LeBron, the guy I am picking was LeBron - except he is a multiple NBA champ, clutch on both ends of the floor.............and white.
My Ironman (in EVERY sense of the word) and 2nd round pick goes to a man they called "Hondo".
John Havlicek
8× NBA Champion (1963–1966, 1968–1969, 1974, 1976)
NBA Finals MVP (1974)
13× NBA All-Star (1966–1978)
4× All-NBA First Team (1971–1974)
7× All-NBA Second Team (1964, 1966, 1968–1970, 1975–1976)
5× NBA All-Defensive First Team (1972–1976)
3× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1969–1971)
NBA All-Rookie First Team (1963)
NCAA Champion (1960)
Consensus NCAA All-American Second Team (1962)
NBA 35th Anniversary Team
NBA 50th Anniversary Team
Best season? Pick one of the many. I'll use 1970/71 as a sample though:
28.9 points per game
9.0 rebounds per game
7.5 assists per game
1.5 steals per game
The guy was an atheltic freak with a motor that wouldn't stop and a born winner. He could do it all and on both sides of the court.

The first true 6th man. Hondo doesn't get anywhere near the amount of respect he deserves. He's definitely in my White Boy All Time team.

6th man on his Celtics. 6th man in that he didn't have a definitive role other than to do everything. I'm not knocking him one bit. He's phenomenal

It was for me too, and then I remembered Dr. J.

Who did you have before switching to him?
Stockton. No one saw that pick before I switched, I don't think. Mods can probably see past edits but I don't think they'll care.

It's all good. You changed your pick before anyone else had drafted so no harm, no foul.

I figured Stockton didn't fit my team. Dr. J kind of fits the whole "What the **** just happened????!!??" thing I have going for me.

Should have stuck with Stockton so I could take Dr. J!

Yeah maybe. I was trying to decide between Stockton and Isiah and then I remembered that Dr. J hadn't been picked.

Re: *NEW* Retro Scavenger Draft - Sachmo's pick
Sorry for living on the other side of the earth!!
That and you bastards keep taking my picks. My 2 next preferences were Admiral then Hondo.
Injuries killed this man's career, but he was an awesome centre and basketball player, one of the greatest passing centre's we've ever seen. (Could he also be the inventor of the pussyfoot???)
He is one of my all time favourite ranga's Bill Walton. I select him for the relative category.
His first 4 years he averaged:
1974-75 12.8pts at .513% 12.6 rebs 4.8 assists 2.7 blocks
1975-76 16.1pts at .471% 10.8 rebs 4.3 assists 1.6 blocks
1976-77 18.6pts at .528% 11.1 rebs 3.8 assists 3.2 blocks
1977-78 18.9pts at .522% 11.2 rebs 5.0 assists 2.5 blocks
He earned a league MVP, he was first team all defensive team, most importantly he led the Portland team that swept the Kareem led Lakers before beating the heavily favourited Dr J led Phillie team.
He was a champion.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I really wanted to team Walton with 11 Rings. Imagine Walton hitting Hondo on the fast break outlet a zillion times a game?
That would have been tasty.
