damn, i came so close to talking walton with my last pick. but i gambled in hopes that he would make it back to me.

so glad to see he is getting the respect he deserves. this draft is all about guys in their prime and in his prime walton was a top 15 talent. his number don't stack up compared to some other centers but walton was one of those playesr that just could not be measured in stats. the guy won. kudos sachmo.

that being said - he'll probably break his foot again halfway thru this season so you better get a good backup ;) the original pussyfoot. i like it.

you and slam having a fight for the most celtics.

I've decided to go with a guy who can do everything well and complements any team.

He can score (93-94)
He can pass (career 5.2 average)
He can shoot (7 threes in a single Finals game)
He can lock down the opponent's best player (best wing defender in the history of the game)
and most importantly, he's a winner (6 rings)
Just about the only thing he can't do, is be an attractive human being.

Scottie Pippen
Image

Hall of Fame
50 Greatest Players
6 NBA Championships
7 time All-Star
1994 All-Star MVP
8 times on All-NBA teams
10 times on All-Defensive teams

In 1994, he showed the league he was a star, no matter who he played with (to a tune of 22 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block per game) while leading his Bulls team to 55 wins. Along with MJ, he formed the scariest and most successful duo the league has ever seen.

Put him in the Hall of Fame category.

I'm shying away from pre 80s players now. Most people like to pretend they couldn't ball for some reason.

Not most people in this draft, plenty of pre 80's players getting picked.

Blah... can't believe Pippen got taken one pick in front of me. Also, with all the centers gone, I have little choice but to stock up on the guards you guys have left me. By the way, I just learned for the first time that MJ was not BORN in North Carolina, but NYC... really wish I'd known that yesterday when I put him in front office, which would have been great for:

Isiah Thomas

God help he and MJ getting along, but Thomas is one of the best pure point guards ever, and clearly the best player left on the board. Fantastic defender, great passer, and able to put the team on his back in crunch time if MJ breaks his leg or something. He'll go into "dropping dimes."

Fixed.

Blah, really not sure the third round swing is necessary in this draft...

I'm starting to worry that I made the wrong choice going with Stock over Scottie and Isiah. I can convince myself that Stockton's a better point guard than Isiah, but seems like I should have taken Pippen for my tough, defensive team.

That's funny SWeed. I actually tossed up a lot between Hondo or Pippen and obviously ended up going with Hondo.

Stockton was pretty tough defensively himself.

I'm finding I'm getting more of my choices selected before my pick in this draft than the earlier one.
Am dreading this reverse round.

This reverse round sucks. That's three of us. Time to reverse the rule!

Taking ALL the MJ Isiah beef out, they really do make a nice backcourt. That's two bad ass ball players.

I really wanted to go with Isiah but knew the PG market is a lot deeper than the swingman list. I also have one other guy I'm REALLY targeting, so he better not get picked in this stupid reverse round!

I am surprised I got positive feedback on Pippen. Most people are down on him. Most people are idiots too, so...

Stockton has the most steals ever by a very wide margin.

Stockton's Playoffs WL? 89-93.
Isiah's Playoffs WL? 69-42.

Stockton's Playoffs Series WL? 17-17
Isiah's Playoffs Series WL? 16-7

Stockton's Finals WL? 0-2
Isiah's Finals WL? 2-1

I like Isiah. If the PG market wasn't so deep, I'd have gone with Isiah over Scottie. And I'd definitely take him over John.

regarding stockton vs isiah, if i was a gm and i could pick one or the other to build my franchise around for the next 10 years i would select isiah, just because when he was at his best, his best was better than stockton's best, imo. and he had more of an ability to put a team on his back and win games on his own. isiah could be an alpha scorer when his team needed it.

Like swedd says - i cant believe paydro paired isiah and mj together. haha. they will kill each other. but yeah, that is one awesome backcourt.

Yeah but as your second pick that isn't necessary. What Stockton brings to the table is the ability to get the ball into the hands of the scorers at a better rate than anyone ever to play the game. If you've got say, MJ, Wilt, Bird, etc, then you don't really need a scoring crazy PG. I don't mean that having one will hurt you, I just mean you're not getting full value from someone.

yeah, i'm not saying i would pair isiah with mj, just saying if i was building a franchise from scratch i would pick isiah over stockton. when you have mj, i'd prefer to pair him with a pg who can play well off the ball, play defense and knock down lots of open shots.
