The things Phil Jackson wrote about Gary in his book make him look like an **** also. It was the one about the 2003-04 team - "A Team in the Search of Its Soul" or something, I can't find it.

****!!!!!!!! You just snatched my favorite vintage NBA player, my idol and my next pick to make the ultimate defensive team.

Sachmo wrote:Slam claims that Frazier is the best defensive point guard ever, will this fella is the only point guard to win defensive player of the year. There are plenty who would argue he is the best defensive point guard ever.

Thank you! Just what I have been trying to say. I guess it's about time for me to make a "Gary Payton guarding MJ in '96 Finals" video.

Let's keep this thing moving. Paydro can pick next time he logs in - we had a full day yesterday with no picks being made.

Go ahead SWeed.

Leading a team lacking talent, this guy was a Batman without a Robin who was stopped short from the promise land. But that's okay because now he's on a team with guys who know how to get **** done.

Patrick Aloysius Ewing
Image

As the grestest outside shooting Center ever, who just happens to be a juggernaut of a defender, one of the toughest players of his time, and a great team player, Patrick is someone I'm glad to have on my team. Here's a fun fact. He holds both first AND third place for most consecutive games with a blocked shot--with 145 and 88!

It's so hard to pick his best years because he remained constant for over a decade. But he was pretty bad ass in 1989-90 when he played 82 games while averaging 29 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, a steal, oh yeah... and 4 blocks!

He also managed to shoot nearly 78% from the FT line and had a TS right at 60%, with a 25.8 PER.

Kareem and Ewing... Match made in heaven.

Lockdown category.

Took me a while to decide on my shooting guard, but I've decided to go with the brilliant Pistol Pete Maravich for the single digit category.

Not only is it the best passing team, it could also go for the whitest team award. Or how about the most trash talking team - who's better in that department than The Glove and Larry Legend!? Walton probably talked also, since he seems to be a bit of an ****.

Sorry for the delay. I'll take Elvin Hayes for First Teamer, and Dominique Wilkins for Dunk Contest.

Yeah, I know, it's 'Nique. I'm assembling the "Angry MJ" team... his hate will sustain him through the playoffs.

I'm surprised that certain players didn't get picked through the relatives category as it doesn't have a lot of quality players.

ABA is definitely the barest category. There were only like 5 or so good players off that list. Relatives, while not as top heavy, is much deeper.

I LOVE the Gervin pick. I was hoping he'd be forgotten and I could grab him as my 6th man. The guy could score the ball like few others. The only reason I took Barry is because he's a more rounded player, but that finger roll is sexy

magic/gervin backcourt - talk about fun to watch and talk about bad defense. but paired with rodman and david robinson it negates some of the bad defense. could be an interested team. i like it.

to be honest, i have done zero research on each category beyond when i was picking the categories to make sure there were enough players to have a draft pool for them. i've just been picking the players i want and then trying to find the bets category for them after. it may come back to haunt me later.

It's just because you don't know them that well. I have some great sleepers for that category, because there are many great underrated ABA players.

THIS IS SLAM'S PICK:

Cheers Fats.

I wanted to find some long range shooting to compliment the guys already on my roster, and in Reggie Miller I get the best and most clutch three point shooter in the history of the NBA. He alone isn't enough to carry a team by himself but playing 2nd or 3rd fiddle to Frazier and Hondo would be perfect for this long range assassin. The fact that he is almost a 90% free throw shooter is also a massive advantage.

Teamed with Clyde, I now have two of the most clutch players in the history of the game.

His best season:
24.6 points per game (51%/41%/87%)
3.6 rebounds per game
3.8 assists per game
1.3 steals per game

My 4th round pick who will fill my 3pt/dunk comp cat: Reggie Miller

I have been going after the BPA and probably around my 7th or 8th pick I'll get into a dead end and will have to start filling out the leftover categories. It's just that some of the picked players, were sleepers in the relatives category. Per example, Patrick Ewing has a son in the NBA (I think he played last season), Gervin had a brother.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCKKKKK!!!!!! No! No No! I had already planned out to take Rodman and Miller for my starting five. Ok, I got unlucky with Dennis being picked so fast, but now when I had a new strategy for my SF and SG position, one pick ahead of me Reggie gets picked....

In a desperate attempt to come up with a new SG/SF, who fits my team, I pick Alex English, simply because he's the best player available for that position. Digits category.

Eight all-star games, three All-NBA selections, hall of famer, one of the best scorers from the 80s and at least now I get to steal somebody else's pick.
