It does suck that Atlanta couldn't have just barely held on for a few reasons

1. They likely would be easier to beat than Arizona

2. I would rather not have seen Cardinals fans get the pleasure of making a near epic run to steal a playoff berth. It would have been so much better to have seen their fans get their hopes up and then hearts broken on the last game of the year or in a single elimination game.

3. While i'd bet against it actually happening, it would be really really hard to stomach if St. Louis managed to win the NL and get to the World Series.

I know I wasn't the only one who heard Rick Sutcliffe say something like this after the Red Sox got the second out.

"Look at Papelbon's eyes. He knows what's at stake, he's not going to let the Orioles score here."

It was something like that and I'm thinking to myself, I hope that comments makes him look like more of an idiot than he already is.
