Game 4 Detroit @ Dallas 1:00 kickofff

Post#1 » by kellmellus50 » Tue Sep 27, 2011 10:29 am

The Lions face another test next week at Dallas, but it's a winnable game for a Detroit team that has now won 11 games in a row, including last year's regular season and this year's preseason. Then come home games against Chicago, San Francisco and Atlanta. Brace yourself, but with a trip to Denver looming just before Detroit's Week 9 bye, a 7-1 or even 8-0 record is not out of the question for the Lions

wow, you guys actually have posters! haha I was looking through the ghost towns thinking Seattle had the only active nfl board. Nicely done, and nice start to the year. Romo is probably crapping himself thinking about your defense and his ribs

Calvin Johnson is tied for 13th in NFL for receiving yards (225), but leads all wide receivers with six TD receptions. ... Matthew Stafford ranks third with a 110.7 QB rating. Packers Aaron Rodgers (120.9) is first followed by Patriots Tom Brady (113.8). ... Only Brady has thrown more TD passes (11) than Stafford (9). Drew Brees and Ryan Fitzpatrick also each have 9. ... Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Pam Oliver will work Sunday’s Lions-Cowboys game on Fox.

Wow, the Lions get the A coverage team. Of course it has to be Aikman/Buck and the Cowboys, but it's still cool.

I'm still not feeling one way or the other on this one yet. If Dallas had so much trouble with the OL and offensive coordination against Washington I can only imagine what Suh and the front will do. But they've got weapons, the Lions have no prayer of stopping Demarcus Ware, and it looks like Dallas found themsevles a kicker after all these years.

I think we will pull this one out, with Hanson again putting the game away late.

Between Romo's ribs, Felix Jones overall inability to run the ball/stay healthy, and their god awful line, I think our defense could be in for a feast.

The Lions signed cornerback Anthony Madison and placed coverage specialist Isaiah Ekejiuba on injured reserve Tuesday, according to reports. Madison was with the Lions in training camp but was cut before the start of the season. The Lions also signed receiver Owen Spencer to the practice squad, according to FoxSports.com.

I can't see us losing this one. I think it will be a good game, but Dallas just has too many hurting bodies - I can't see them beating us. Especially if we get a good shot in on Romo and knock him out of the game.

Last year when the Cowboys beat the Lions 35-19, Suh had a half sack and eight tackles. Romo didn’t play, it was Jon Kitna that the Lions faced.

The Lions also made a practice squad move Wednesday, releasing receiver Tim Toone and signing receiver Owen Spencer. Tight end Cornelius Ingram was released off the practice squad injured list.

Like Ice said, Ware is going to rain holy hell upon Stafford. This strikes me as a big concern. Gotta contain Witten too, because that dude is money and will kill a team down the seam. Our D should have some success and pressure Tony all day.

I feel decent about this one, but Ware lining up across from Backus or Hillard/Cherilus really concerns me

Sad news about Toone, I rather liked him. I don't think he can play but I admire any white guy pulling off dreadlocks with sprinter speed.

Ingram is a great case of what could have been. Dude was a monster before all the knee injuries but it robbed him of his ability. He was better than Aaron Hernandez at Florida.

I went with the Lions as the pick but a bad loss wouldn't surprise me. Probably wouldn't be the wost thing either, a cold reality check that there is still a lot of work to be done. I'd just rather that come against an AFC team of high quality than a team that could use a tiebreaker for a playoff spot.

Dallas only has one good WR with Miles Austin out. Jason Hatcher on the DL is also out and they have very little in that department beyond Ware. Also most importantly probably is that G Derrick Dockery is out and a rookie Bill Nagy is playing. Dallas will only have a 2 year OT and 2 no name rookie interior OL players as backups. Their very best OL player is potentially near his worst for his entire NFL career having basically just gotten started with developing. They have no business winning this game. Oh, plus they have very suspect safeties and Romo isn't that great, if he can even stay alive.

I was too thinking lions could blowout Dallas then i read about their defence, and it brought me back to a close game lions winning by 3 to 7pts

The Cowboys defense is ranked No. 1 in the NFC. It's giving up just 301 yards per game - 61.3 on the ground. Ware is leading the NFL with five sacks, while fellow linebacker Anthony Spencer has added three of his own.

"They're very stout against the run," said Detroit's Matthew Stafford

i don't know how the lions are going to get their running game going. They may have to use their TE again as their running game.

here's a fan in dallas say's about the lions : More afraid of that D-Line than the qb. I hear they like ribs.

I'm saying the lions win 27-24. Calvin Johnson breaks his streak and only has 1 touchdown. Cowboys have the advantage of Ware, but I think Suh/Vanden Bosch are going to be gunning for Romo. Nothing dirty, but I'm pretty sure the Cowboys offensive line is pretty much banged up right now.

Cowboy fan.

The boys offensive line isn't banged up. Only injury is to left guard Derrick Dockery, he played 1 game before getting hurt. The line basically is young and inexperienced, that's what is hurting. The Cowboys best lineman was left tackle Doug Free, who for some reason is in a 2 game slump. Before that he was playing great. Right tackle 1st round pick rookie Tyron Smith is only 20, but actually is playing well. Considering his age. The main problem is the inexperience at center and the snap counts. Phil Costa was thrust as a starter in preseason after the Boys cut Gurode, long time vet and pro bowler. He aged fast, and they liked what Costa did preseason. Now he is having mental lapses. So bacially it's just growing pains. Lions defensive line will abuse them I am sure. I expect Romo to play closer under center so the snap count won't be an issue (I hope). He was doing a lot of shotgun when that happened.

Rob Ryan says Megatron isn't on par with Austin and Bryant. Nothing worse than a Ryan talking **** like a punk. I hope Calvin teaches him a lesson he will never forget.

Who cares what he says. If the Lions come to play, they win. They are the better team. With that said, I picked the cowboys to win in my pool. They gotta lose sometime, and a road game loss is due. Overdue really.

Rotoworld and NFL.com have incomplete lists, however KFFL has the full inactive list:

OG David Arkin, PK David Buehler, OG Derrick Dockery, WR Miles Austin, CB Orlando Scandrick, DL Sean Lissemore, FB Tony Fiammetta

The DL and OL are scary thin, they better pray for no injuries, although Jason Hatcher is supposed to be out, so I'm wondering if Lissemore might really be active?

2nd week in a row we've gotten off to an ugly start. It was amazing we were able to come back from 0-20 last week, I'd rather not press our luck. Although we know Romo will be good for at least 1 really bad turnover at some point.
