Why would Gilbert Arenas and Monta Ellis drop to the second round if they were that good. Why did Landry Fields drop to us?

Monta was seen as an undersized, weak SG and Arenas was in the same mold, but somehow made it come together..that's very rare. Fields was a PF in college who was seen as a guy with a below average NBA skill-set and athleticism, so who would draft him as a SG? Shumpert has the perfect size for his position. He wouldn't go over looked if he were that good.

I know some are saying slow down, but please remember that most comments are only about what we are seeing with our own eyes. Sometimes seeing really is believing. Iv'e been doing the basketball thing for a long time and know sure talent when I see it. Shumpert has it to spare! Probably the most important thing is that he seems to have a high level of confidence (not arrogance), almost like he knows something that we don't. If you go back to the first videos he was posting and compare them to his latest, you'll see what I mean. You can literally see his jump shot evolve from one with decent form, to one that seems to be butter now. There is no reason he couldn't transfer his shot to a NBA game with his level of confidence and combination of size and explosiveness. Remember, Shumpert will be playing with freakin Amare, Melo and Billups. That in itself is going to have a huge impact on his game and comfort level. I'm a long time Knick fan and it's hard to get excited about a Knick's draft choice, but you would have to search for many moons to find a Knick's draft pick that I have seen this many people excited about. Even the overly cautious give reluctant praise. When folk started taking a good look at pre-draft Westbrook, his draft status shot up (lottery) the board because, of his elite athleticism and overall make up. I don't care how many times I see Shumpert, you can't convince me that he doesn't have everything Westbook has and if nothing else he's stronger. So I'm staying excited and I'm pretty confident that for once in a very long time, the Knick's may have been in the right place, at the right time.
Very well said sir. This is exactly what I think and couldnt have put it better. Westbrook is a good comparison for shump, although shump has a good 2" on him and some mass.

According to DA, he says if or when there is a season. Teams will most likely sit their star players alot due to the back to back schedule of 5 games in 6 nights and the type of hectic schedule a shortened season will have, teams will look to use their younger players to help them and manage their other players minutes which just seems like the perfect situation for Iman to showcase himself.
He'll put up 17ppg, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 steals. D'antoni will bring him off the bench as a Sixth Man once he gets some time to show how good he is and how useful he is.
He just has star written over him. You can just respect his game already.
lol this made me crack up
maybe in his prime he'll get somewhere close to those numbers, but even then i don't think so.
what has he done to warrant this praise? i think its funny honestly. why would he drop to us if he's this good? he'll be a pretty good role player i think (trevor ariza-like), but anything more than that...the odds are against him.
He wont be averaging those type of numbers this year but if given starters minutes I think he can challenge for rookie of the year in a weak draft class (although kyrie irving will have something to say about that Im sure).
But him being trevor ariza- lite is a horrible comparison. Trevor Ariza cannot handle the ball nor set up teammates the way shump can. Their skill sets are completely different only sharing similar athletic ability.

Lame response. Your reasoning doesn't make any sense. A steal is a steal. These things happen in the NBA and we have way more players than just Monta Ellis and Gil Arenas as examples. 2 players I think Shump will be better than lol. Come on bro, hope on the bandwagon. This kid is the real deal.

Really? REALLLY? Have you not seen what he's been doing in the charity games consistently? It didn't take Felton long to put up 17ppg. It didn't take a player like Evans long to prove himself, why can't Iman do it if Billups don't play back to back games?

Re: Welcome to the Knicks Iman Shumpert
Lockout taking its toll on Knicks rookie
AS I plan ahead for the future, I must admit it’s starting to get hard to go to practice alone every day. Tonight would have been our season opener -- at the Garden no less, against the Miami Heat.
I really would have enjoyed that being my first regular-season game due to the atmosphere it calls for, with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in the house. But I just want to play my first NBA game more than anything. I just want to play.
I do a lot of drill work and make sure to shoot between 500 to 1,000 shots a day and get my conditioning in, too, but I truly miss the up-and-down play against competition.
The trash talk, the hard fouls, and even just hearing the sound of a buzzer going off would be nice. I’ve never heard that at the Garden.
It’s to the point I want to get my close friends referee shirts just so I can hear a whistle blow and disagree with their calls.
I’ve tried to stay positive, but this lockout is taking a toll on me, as well as the fans, the workers, and the other players. I just want them to “free basketball.’’
My mood is definitely beginning to change.
But I want to thank the fans that have been hitting me on Twitter with encouraging words regarding the lockout clouds I’ve had hanging over my head. But I know I won’t be right until this thing is over.
The lone bright spot was enjoying Halloween at home in Chicago. It was dedicated to my nephew Micah.
This weekend he had a Halloween party with family and friends and dressed up as Superman and Thor. Seeing him have so much fun really brought a rare smile to my face this weekend.
On Halloween, I also got a chance to go out to Hammond, Ind., with my family to go to my first haunted house in a long time. I must admit I was scared walking through some rooms that spun and played tricks with your mind with the frightening costumes startling, jumping out as we turned each corner.
You can even say it was scarier than facing LeBron and Dwyane in my NBA debut.

End the lockout so our rookie can be happy again!
EDIT:

Twisted my words in the post I would never compare LeBron and Wade to a scary haunted house smh

It's going to be a season with fewer games so we won't be packing the full season into a short period...Billups will be playing back to back games.
Also, please don't use the charity games as reference points. Beasley put up 50+ in one of the games and players have been putting up triple doubles like it's nothing. He played well in the Impact League, which from the highlights one can assume there was not as much defense being played compared to actual regular/postseason games.
You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you think he will average above 12 ppg as a rookie. He's going to be a solid player in the league (and I LOVED the pick when we made it and was a fan of his the few weeks leading up to the draft), but you can't be serious if you think he's going to put up 17, 6, 6 as a rookie...do you have any idea how few rookies score 17ppg LET ALONE average 6 rebounds and 6 assists to go with that? Two players in the entire league last year averaged 5+ rpg and 5+ apg (LeBron and Iggy). That shows how hard it is for anybody to average that...
IMO, he's going to be an Iggy type of player -- jack of all trades, master of none (but with a better jump shot). A perfect role player and complimentary piece to a championship contending team.

How so? We still don't have enough cap space, even IF the cap is at 61 million, to sign a 3rd superstar.
