I like Amar'e and I am glad we have him, but I'm not completely in love with his game. I wish he would use his head a bit more. It's kind of frustrating when I'm watching the game, see him get double teamed, and know that he's going to try to score anyway and probably dribble off his foot. Hopefully he will not isolate as much next season which will keep him from doing that. It's pretty cool when he is on fire and dunking on everyone though. His first step is absolutely insane for a guy his size, even post injury.

people really forget so fast
Amare was singlehandedly to credit with turning this teams attitude around. Now that Carmelo is here too everyone wants to move him for this or that.
Leadership is an intangible that shouldnt be overlooked. Nor should draw, since without Amare here Carmelo probably wouldnt be either.
Truth is that if we add Howard the same people will be complaining about his lack of offensive versatility.

When Amar'e has to handle the ball from further away from the basket and create his own shot his efficiency goes down. He will in that scenario commit offensive fouls, turn the ball over or just wind up with a bad shot in a higher percentage even though most of the time he will still make an amazing play to get a basket.
Felton wasn't nearly as good as Nash was in getting Amar'e higher percentage shots at the rim so we saw more of it from Amar'e last year. It's something that us as fans are going to have to accept from Amar'e that if he has to do it himself we are going to see more turnovers and offensive fouls from him even though many times he finishes in a way that we see why he's so great.
With CP3 on the Knicks there would be a PG again who can get him those higher percentage shots and he would be less asked to take the ball from the outside trying to create his own shots and therefore there would be less occasion for him to create his own shot so fewer ugly plays from him.
But having D12 and Nash solves two huge problems with Amar'e and the Knicks shortcomings with players that are impact players. Yeah Nash would be old and on his last legs but he's still in really great shape and he would be less relied upon to carry the play making load for the Knicks as he is now with the 'star'less Suns so that could potentially extend his career. If he's making vet min to be in NY it would make the risk minimal for the Knicks and they still would have their big three in tact while trying to find someone to help facilitate the offense in the instance of Nash getting hurt or slowing down considerably.
I really don't think the Knicks will be in a a position to get D12 as he will probably want his full max salary and they likely won't have the cap space to sign him. It's a possibility he would accept less but it's not likely where with CP3 I believe it's a higher probability he would accept less than his max to come to the Knicks. Even though if something would happen to CP3 the Knicks would have a tougher time finding a replacement for him and it would knock out one of their big 3.
