Awesome this is aN active thread! Someone want to fill me in on what's going on w/ Chelsea...? I missed the reds game b/c I fell asleep and was alerted to the score before I got a chance to watch the replay (I chose not to watch the game after hearing the score, ha).

I missed the first 20 minutes. Why is Romeu starting? Simply mikel's poor performance? He looks very composed and has had some great touches. Where's lampard? How did the midfield play last week - presumably pretty poorly..? Rameriez has looked to have really come on, from what I have seen this season. He has an essein like motor and really looks forward to get wherever possible.

Good to see Luiz get the start, I realize, at times, he makes some terrible decisions, but on his day he is in our top 11 and his speed is a must in order to match it with the top teams. I probably have more questions but I will see if I can get a response to these ones firs, ha.

Rio makes an unreal, perfectly timed tackle and Newcastle awarded a PK. Shocking decision and United are going to have to find another goal to come away with 3 points.

If that was a foul in the box, Rio should've been sent off. Just a plain stupid decision.

It's united, they'll get a square up. 25ish to go, 1-1?

How United couldn't score I have no idea. Absolutely rattled by this match, furious with the result.

It's Romeu's first time starting in a PL match so it's hard to say if this move's going to be permanent, but I think AVB was just trying to experiment with the midfield. Midfield of Lamps, Ramires and Mikel just hasn't been working, and had all the characteristics that are opposite of the game AVB's trying to play. The ball moves too slowly with Mikel and only Lamps seems to know that we need to press more if we are going to continue to play high defensive line. As for Lamps not starting, I'm assuming he was rested.

I watched the last 10 minutes. I honestly thought the tackle on Ashley Young inside the 6 yard box (which was a great tackle) was going to be a penalty.

Yeah, i knew it was his first start. Thought the kid had a pretty strong outing for a debut, definitely didn't look out of place. I missed the first and last 20 minutes but a good result and a strong, bounce back performance. Great to see Torres sitting on the pine, did he get on at all?

I agree that wasn't a foul, but even if it were, it would have been wrong to send Ferdinand off for that. That wasn't even close to being a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Torres was on for about 15 minutes and he perhaps tried too hard to score lol. Probably the right thing to do with 40,000 people wanting to see exactly that.

Doesn't look like many United fans are happy with Young right now. Injury didn't help, but his form's dropped significantly after the first couple of games in which he looked like the best winger in the country.

I would guess that 37 of those 40 couldn't give a flying **** at his point. It's over, he's done. And, admittedly, I was one of the last to comes to terms with it. Possibly the most incredible mental collapse I have ever seen, in any sport...

Actually the whole stadium was chanting his name. Quite amazing how many have still not given up on him.

That was poor from Vermaelen, shouldn't have gone for that with his left foot.

If it was a foul on Ferdinand, he got none of the ball and only the man and he was pretty much the last man back (kind of to the side though, and even if the ball was already gone). There's no middle ground, that should've at least been a yellow with a stern warning had he have committed the foul there. I have absolutely no clue what the linesman saw.

bryant, I deleted your comment about Young by mistake. Pressed Edit button instead of Quote  . Sorry about that -5DOM

I've only watched the replay once, but IIRC it didn't seem like a goal scoring opportunity at all. The attacker hardly beat Ferdinand, had no angle to take a shot and other United defenders were already arriving in the box. Penalty was a ridiculous decision but no card was the right call IMO.

Pretty cool that Vellios' 3 goals off the bench are leading Everton. Kid could be really special.

I still root pretty hard for Torres. He's actually turned into one of my favorite players since coming to Chelsea.
