Rooney at his best is better than van Persie.
Torres is just terrible right now and Aguero/Balotelli aren't better than van Persie.

Just an Arsenal troll.
Rooney on form is as good as RvP. But, right now RvP is as good as any striker in EPL history, and playing as good as anyone in the game. He's had a historic 2011, and might break the single year goal scoring record, even with playing far fewer games than the other top names.
If he stays healthy he is a top, top player. Certainly better than Balotelli, Aguero, or Torres.
van Persie
44 goals in 47 appearances in 2011. 0.94 goals/app.
Messi
53 goals in 58 appearances in 2011. 0.91 goals/app.
Ronaldo
50 goals in 50 appearances in 2011. 1.00 goals/app.
In the EPL 2011 only:
RvP- 31 goals
Rooney- 19
Ba/Bent/Lampard 15
Hernandez- 14
Dzeko- 11
Suarez- 8

i am surprised when i watch an arsenal game and he doesn't score.
He asked who is better than RVP right now? He didn't say who is in better form than RVP?
If that's the question and we look at the pure talent, those players I counted are way but waaay better than Robin Van Persie. It is not comparable with other players who play different positions but if we look at the skill, Nasri, Silva, Nani, Young and tons of players are better than RVP.
If the question is about current form, then yeah RVP is in peak now.
I don't even answer IronChef though

Re: 2011
If you're looking at pure talent, RvP is one of the best I've seen.
He's had a career marred by injuries, and I wouldn't bet against him having more of them. But, with how he's playing right now, this year, he's as good as anyone in the EPL.

Re: 2011
RVP is undoubtably a mercurial world class talent and is as in form right now as anyone in the world not named Christiano Ronaldo.
As IronChef stated he has had a career marred by injuries & inconsistency but since he has taken on the arm band from Cesc he is a new man.
Considering his form I would take him over anyone right now but in terms if talent I think Rooney & Aguero are better, also people shouldn't forget Adebayor who is seemingly sane again & playing very well.
Combining form & talent right now I'd go with-
RVP>Rooney>Aguero>Adebayor>Suarez

Suarez is good but definitely overrated, he hasn't scored that many goals & has fluffed a lot of chances.
Adebayor just keeps banging them in & is a proven PL performer, looking at the clubs he has played for makes you realise that he is a great talent. For his size his technique is unbelievable & he will work hard for the right gaffer.
Adebayor>Suarez imo.
I'm an Ajax fan aswell by the way & seen him play a lot, Suarez is very good but needs to find his feet in the PL(even though he's been there nearly a year)

Re: 2011
I just had a quick look & Suarez has scored 8 goals in 26 games for Liverpool & Adebayor has scored 7 goals in 10 games for Tottenham.
EDIT-I thought I should mention that Suarez also has 8 assists in 26 games & Adebayor has 6 assists in 10.
Adebayor>Suarez.

Are you being sarcastic? You guys are saying RVP is a pure talent and the greatest player now. And you are complaning that those guys are inconsistent

Last year Rooney played 40 games.
Silva played 53 games.
Nasri played 46 games.
Nani played 49 games.
Young played 39 games.
RVP played only 31 games. If we are saying RVP is a world class player with his inconsistency, and you are saying the same, then you shouldn't even talk about consistency since RVP is really bad at it.
Also, YES, Ashley Young, IMO was better than RVP. Especially, when he was playing under O'neill with Agbonlahor, Carew etc.. In that year, he was great.

Re: 2011
I obviously meant consistency when they are actually playing.
Rooney, Nani, Nasri and Young have all had their slumps while RVP is usually very consistent when he's healthy. As for Young, I find it funny that you are only referring to his season-long performance a couple of seasons ago when RVP's currently having one of the most productive years ever in the PL-era. If you think Young had a great year then, we are going to have to invent a new adjective to describe how much greater RVP's year has been. By the way, this doesn't even matter because we are actually only talking about who the better player is NOW. Guys like Nasri, Young and Torres have no case.

Re: 2011
On Suarez vs Adebayor... Suarez can impact the game in more ways, but his goal scoring record isn't as great as you'd think. Sik Infant's already provided the #'s, but IIRC Suarez also has a very poor conversion rate for a top striker. Nevertheless I think Suarez is the better footballer while Adebayor is the one I would choose if I needed a #9.

Re: 2011
^^ Agree 100%
Adebayor is extremely talented, but he generally stops trying about half way through the season too.
When healthy RvP has always been good, he's not inconsistent in that regard. The fact that he has 112 goals for Arsenal in 182 appearances testifies to that. He is injury prone, unfortunately, and they're injuries that aren't related to any specific body part, which is unusual.
But, pure talent-wise he is up there with the best I've seen. If you read Arsenal player interviews, the person they consistently name as the most talented player at the club is RvP.
Comparing his form this year to that of Ashley Young is hilarious at best, RvP is having a historic 2011.

McEachran can't catch a break. Subbed off in the two previous CC's due to the red cards and then gets injured in this one.
I'm really losing faith in Torres, if I didn't see the starting XI today I wouldn't have even known he was out there based on the first half.
