I dunno.

To be brutally honest I'm not that high on Splitter but I also think the Spurs plan would also be to keep him around after Tim's gone. I just think they want a PF that Duncan can mentor before he leaves but maybe considering Thiago hasn't been that impressive they would consider shipping him anyways.

Personally I'm not as high on that deal as others are.

*as an aside clearly Endo thought the trade was referring to AL not RICHARD Jefferson lol

How about a Barbosa for Bidrens deal. GSW wants to free up some space for chandler, so they'll have to throw in a pick since we are doing them a favour.

Barbosa for bidrens + 2012(unprotected) and I'm all over that..

No way you're getting an unprotected pick for Barbosa. But the framework of a Barbosa for Beans + incentive deal sounds okay.

GS doesn't own their 2012 pick..Utah does.

So other than that pick, I don't think there are other attainable assets that GS has that I'd personally be interested in. However, I'd be all over a Barbosa + Kleiza for Al Jefferson + GS 2012 pick deal.

I think I'd trade Barbosa for any player, with any contract, if it meant we got their 2012 1st round pick.

It's a player option, so you know he'll opt out to try and get a long term deal in a summer when there are a lot of buyers. Contract season means we benefit too, but I'm not sure Barbosa and maybe a 2nd rounder is really enough.

I hear they've been disappointed in Williams and he's frequently thrown around in trade ideas, and in a normal year he could probably land them a younger prospect and a protected pick of some kind, but unless he agrees to an extension any team that gets him knows he's only there for a year before he opts out. No one will extend him now considering his value on any other team is sort of unknown, considering his nebulous sort of play in ATL.

If they really like Teague, then Barbosa makes some sense as a scoring guard because they won't have to commit long term like they would with Crawford or another FA.

Marvin will not opt out trust me there are better SF that will be overpaid Batum for one will get more money and a long deal. Marvin for Barbosa is just bad if Toronto is counting their pennies for 2012's FA crop.

Some of you guys are funny really Barbosa to GSW for their pick and Biedrins. News flash without a C they are going to be ****. 2nd they have good depth and the 1/2 with Ellis/Curry/Thompson in the fold Barbosa doesn't make sense. Trust me that is brutal for GSW if they don't want Biedrins why not just axe him using the amnesty rule? They keep their pick open money for Nene, Oden, Gasol, Jordan...etc and add a player with their pick

2012 Championship Time:

Trade Bargs for Chris Paul - trade demands kill his return, best package they'll get for 1 season of CP3 before he walks to the Knicks.

Trade Jonas, Ed, Barbosa and 2012 1st for Dwight - again, package lowered because he's gone after the year. This package is similar to the Kanter, Favors and Harris package the Jazz received for a year and a half (with a reasonable chance to resign) from the Nets.

Lineup:
Paul / Caldy
Derozan / Bayless
JJ / Kleiza
Amir / ??
Dwight / Alabi

Great defense, thin depth, poor shooting, superior athleticism. Of course this is all or nothing as both Howard and Paul walk at the end of the year, but as a Raps fan I think I'd definitely do it.

I'm guessing N.O. will likely get a package of picks or young prospects for CP3 (if they deal with another team besides NY). I can't fathom trading for Andrea straight up is the best they can do. Secondly, you sell the farm for Dwight with the idea that he'll likely walk after the season is done? So you have Dwight and CP3 for 1 season, and in 2012 you build around DeRozan and who, Amir? I hope the 1 season is worth it.

If they are making a run at a big time free agent then whats a pick to them. The deal is dead because they dont even have their pick, but its not out of the world where they wouldnt do it. LAC did the exact same type of trade just to get rid of BD.

Simple deal - Bargnani for Ariza, Anderson

We get our starting SF and backup shooting guard + a backup center already familiar w/ Toronto. If they lose West, Andrea makes sense to replace his scoring.

I've proposed variations of that deal a few times and it always gets shouted down because Ariza didn't want to sign here a few years ago. I still think it's a good trade, but ah well.

That's a garbage trade, though, unless you think NO would throw in picks too?

No picks. I'm looking at opening up the PF spot for our younger guys along w/ getting rid of the last year of Andrea's contract. I think Ariza's wing defence would be valuable.

I think that's a great trade. Andersen was a solid back up and I wouldn't mind seeing him in our uniform again. Ariza is really talented and might just be our most talented player if we pick him up, certainly better than Kleiza and JJ.

I'm not sure if Anderson can be trade back to us. Normally, since a year has elapsed since we traded him there, it should be possible but in a truncated season with a new CBA, that would have to be clarified. As for Ariza, he chose Houston for family reasons - to be reasonable close to his infant son who lives with his mother in LA. I really think he would not be a happy camper here.

Tks for the feedback. The more I look, the more I realize its pretty difficult to move Andrea. The PF spot is just to talent rich in the NBA.

It's not that he's untradable, that's just a really weak trade that I can't see BC even considering. We're not in bad salary shape so dumping Bargs' contract is not really a motivation.

You're right though, there are lots of PFs out there and the teams that might need one wouldn't necessarily have assets we'd want back. It would probably be for a similar contract that another team also wants to move and/or for an aging vet.

The Suns could do worse than taking a 20ppg scorer for an expiring Nash, for example, and while it's not a good long term roster move for Toronto, it's one that make sense in other ways. I'd do Bargs and Bayless for Nash and a protected pick, for example (Aaron Brooks is stuck in China). If Nash is not going to be traded to a contender, the next best thing would be to play in Toronto, I would imagine. I hate to give into the marketing side of things, but it's the sort of thing the Raptors would be smart to do for the fans during a down period. Interest and revenues would go up, while not really compromising the bigger picture. If anything, it improves it if we draft a PG next year to play with a re-signed Nash (2 years at lower $, for example).

The team risks losing a lot of the good will they've built up over the years and while it's somewhat pandering with a star, it's a bit different than someone like VC since Nash is Canada's basketball golden child. The media play would be huge at a time when the Leafs are actually an improving team, as are the Jays. By the time the Nash factor wears off, the youth movement will be paying dividends and we're back in the win column to retain the fans that Nash helped keep interested.

@CS, really hard to argue w/ that logic.

In regard's to the trade, I don't think there is anyway the Sun offer a protected pick. The financial hit in absorbing AB contract negates the capspace they would gain by retaining Nash. The trade does work straight up but I could see us being asked to take on Warrick for Bayless.

I've been talking about Phoenix as a good home for Bargs for a while now.

Itbobby007 is right; that logic really is difficult to argue with. I don't know if they're deal Bargnani for Nash but I do know that after Nash leaves, Phoenix won't have anyone to score. We need a stop gap wing and a C so like I've said before, I think a deal for Pietrus + Lopez is fair.

They're the only team in the league who has a good rebounding and defensive C without the usual complimentary scoring PF. Pietrus and Lopez have low enough value for it to be worth taking on Bargnani for the Suns and it fits our rebuilding plan. Pietrus is expired after this year and we can evaluate where Lopez is a keeper long-tern or not here. So instead of playing behind Gortat, he'd get solid minutes from us and think of all the savings we get from the deal?!?

Sure I guess you could make the argument that we're selling low but for Bargs its looking more and more that we either sell low or don't sell at all and I'd rather cut my losses and take the financial freedom while picking up another young piece IMO.

Yeah, it would have to be expanded if we wanted that pick. I'd push for Childress or Dudley before Warrick, though - I really like Dudley as a smart player.

I think even the option of swapping picks when theirs is higher would be enough for me to do Bargs+Bayless.

We're hard on Bargs here because if his #1 pick status, but to another team he's still a 20/5 guy. With Carter out, the Suns don't have anyone close to being a 20ppg scorer. Put him next to a good defender in Gortat at C and it's a decent frontcourt, with Lopez, Frye and Morris rounding things out.

I have no idea what the Spurs are planning for life after Duncan, but I could see a guy like Pops changing Bargs game enough to make him a personal project. Bargs for Jefferson works straight up, though I'd personally try to send RJ to a 3rd team as he doesn't serve any purpose here. We need a SF, but I'd rather go with someone younger and cheaper.
