Multiple league executives say the Knicks are now in the lead to land Tyson Chandler, jumping in front of the Warriors.

@KBergCBS Ken Berger
If the deal goes through, the Knicks use amnesty on Chauncey Billups and move Ronny Turiaf to make room for Chandler, sources say.

Can they do that and still sign CP3 for max the next season?

I'm pretty sure they can't.

Am I the only one that's happy Orlando isn't giving Chandler that horrid contract?

On the other hand, it's starting to look like whoever gets Chandler will be front runners in getting CP3

But in NY's case... they wouldn't have enough cap room to get CP3 if they sign Chandler... unless they do a trade for CP3 (2 or 3 team)

The Knicks are doing this because they realize they won't get Paul.

Reminds me of the draft night (the web stream of the "war room" on NBA.com), where Otis was sitting there eating a sandwich and drinking a soda... leaning back in his chair, relaxing for the whole 3+ hours lol

I don't agree, I think CP still wants to play with Dwight more than Chandler ..

This could be good news for us. Paul would only consider GSW cause they wanted to sign Chandler. Now with the Clippers not wanting to trade Eric Gordon, CP could change his mind back to "I wanna play with Dwight" again ..

And for the 100.000.000th time, Otis should trade everything we've got for expirings, picks & whatever NOH wants and jump all over this ..

Not bad, we get a decent big for our bench and could trade Bass or Ryno in another deal.

Very true, but I'm sure CP3 has chemistry with Chandler... and this is "his boy"... I wouldn't discredit that... but yes, playing with Howard would be preferably better for CP3 (I would hope, b/c I'm not CP3 and idk what he's thinking)

You could also look at Chandler as a trade asset... (take for ex: GS) would NOH take back Chandler if it netted them Ellis or even Curry?

I will change my stance on one thing though... Chandler going to NY seems to gridlock the Knicks from ever acquiring CP3 either through FA or S&T (they don't have any other assets to bundle with Chandler), unless they found a third team to help them out (lol won't happen!)... in GS's case however, they do have assets to bundle with Chandler (Ellis + Chandler, Curry + Chandler)

So from a strategic standpoint, I'd rather have Chandler go to NY than GS. But the whole perception could be off... what if Chandler going to GS (giving GS a shot at CP3) means Orlando has a shot at Ellis (w/ a J-Rich S&T)?

Moves are being made... we're just going to have to sit back and watch it occur (and see what unfolds).

I don't think after next offseason with the same moves Billups and Turiaf gone, the Knicks have enough to offer another Max contract. Hence, this may be why they are going after Chandler.

You can't look at chandler as a trade asset for 15mil or whatever the rumors are, that's a liability

It would signal the end of the CP3 to Knicks rumors.

I must admit things are starting to ramp up here...and Rightfully so being that this will be a very accelerated Free Agency/Trade period....Look for deals to happen quickly because since the NBA wants to get the season started quickly and on time Front offices can't spend that much time courting Free Agents...You got to get your Free Agents/Trade Acquisitions in Training camp to get ready for the season...So i don't expect a lot of lollygagging this upcoming week or so...I hope Otis is doing something
