What about Ronnie Brewer and C.J. Miles for Barbosa. Both Brewer and Miles are unguaranteed for next year so if you want to clear cap you still can. However if one of these guys impresses, they are still young and can be easily kept past this season. Brewer can back up Demar and James Johnson (or start at the 3) until Kleiza returns.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I'd do it. I prefer CHI pick though.

Rapsfan07 - If we get #10 for Amir Johnson + 2013 top 10 protected 1st then no, if we get in the 6-9 range yes I move Amir + the pick if not then **** it I keep Amir and move Ed Davis for some sort of pick in that range.

The best bet for Toronto is to move Barbosa for a later pick and grab a prospect either PG. SG, SF or backup C and see if we could get a useless expiring deal or small cap hit in 2012/2013 if needed. I wouldn't suffle expiring deals like the Brewer and CJ Miles idea it's just not that enticing. Plus CJ contract runs 1 more year I believe without the pick I say no.

As for Bargs for Jeff Green hell no, Green is terrible he's a role player at best and is lost in the NBA between a 3/4. He's undersized for a 4 and to slow for a 3. We have Amir + Ed Davis at the 4 so Green is wasted depth. If were that desprite to dump salary why not just axe Bargs and cut him from the team or I am sure we could get a expiring deal for him somewhere.

I'd prefer doing Barbosa for Watson (expiring), Bogans+Lucas+Pargo (all unguaranteed and can be waived if necessary), and the Bulls 2012 pick.

I like Ronnie in a Raptors uniform. I remember during his draft that BC had a look at Ronnie. Decent back up swingman who can play D.

Yeah if there was I would be packing Bargs' bags right now for him. As much as I hate Jennings in Toronto as a PG both would be valued pieces here. I easily amnesty Jose right away and pick up a cheap veteran defensive PG. Next year Toronto would have a pretty potent team with a mid 1st + Jonas V to add into the fold.

Because we do not want guys like VC to be anywhere near Derozan.

This is where we disagree I guess.

Ed Davis projects to be a MUCH better PF than Johnson...and I like Amir. But Ed Davis looks like he could be a starting PF while Amir is a bench big, though still valuable. Let's say we get lucky with Drummond (which is the only way I even contemplate moving Ed or Amir) and Miller or Gilchrist is still on the board then I wouldn't think twice about moving Amir + 2013 top-10 protected for them.

Sounds like your fear is Ed may bolt after his rookie contract...is that right? If so then I definitely understand because it is something to think about.

This is a deal I hope goes down. BC needs to be working that phone to make sure it happens. It makes sense for everybody.

With that pick I'd be looking at Terrence Ross or Tony Wroten. I think one of them will still be on the board by then. Maybe he should call Indiana and gauge their interest in Barbosa as well. Heard they were looking for a SG. Maybe they'd be willing?

Another option is taking on Al Jefferson for GS pick if that option is available. I hope BC is making these calls. It'd be worth using the amnesty this year on Kleiza to free up the space to make this deal if need be to get a pick like that.

Trade Scenario#1
Raps Trade
Barbosa

Hornets Trade
Jack
Pondexter

Trade Scenario#2
Raps Trade
Bargnani
Calderon
Barbosa

Hornets Trade
Okafor
2012 1st rd pick
Jack

Reasoning gives raps a defensive C even tho he has a huge contract but we get their pick for that. Even tho we would be getting this huge contract we would add a pick in 2012 deep draft and still have the flexibility to add Westbrook,Williams,Or Howard. For Hornets gives them a better chance to rebuild as they are going to rebuild they lose that big atrocious contract of Okafor, so now when they trade paul to lakers or boston they'll have an alright team going forth into the rebuild. We can take out Calderon if it's to good for us.

Raptors list of rookies should be PJ3, Lillard, Rivers, Waiters, or Harkless.
I say draft Lillard, Waiters, or Harkless.

Barbosa for Terrence Williams and Hasheem Thabeet.

Toronto gets a couple of young players to try out and still hold financial flexibility.
Houston is in win-now mode after trading for Gasol. They get a nice scorer off the bench on an expiring deal. He may also help Houston bring in Nene, the fellow Brazillian.

Scenario: The Raptors pull a Boston

Post#1415 » by LargeBabyDavis » Fri Dec 9, 2011 2:55 am

Now this isnt a trade thread but Im curious to see how the realgm have feelings if toronto did a Boston esqe move. I started thinking afterwards Lakers pretty much upset Pau Gasol.

By Celtics I mean get 3 stars near end prime for young talent and pair them up so they are complimentary towards eachother. So we get legit chances at finals and stuff.

The way were doing now is a traditional jack up the youngsters and have an age learn as time goes if they pan out.

How would you feel if we pulled a Boston and became world champ contendors for the first time ever. Even if we trade Demar, Bayless, Ed, Jonas, and even Bargnani.

Me personally I would like that depending on the old guys we find.

Also is this even real possible right now with Raptors

Please God no. I want a Championship won with homegrown players, so it's earned 100%. So it's satisfying to the fullest.

If the raptors were to land Anthony Davis or Andre Drummond would trading davis be easy.

Trade Barbosa to Houston for T Wiliams and Johnny Flynn

Trade Calderon to Minny for Martell Webster and Anthony Tolliver

Trade Bargnani to Denver for their first round pick in 2012 (which is going to be awful, look at their roster)

PG - Bayless - Flynn (best of the two stays beyond 2012)
2G - DeRozen - T Williams
SF - Johnson - Webster - Kleiza
PF - Davis - Amir
C - Tolliver - Magloire (Tolliver expires)

2012 Draft - Anthony Davis and Gilchrist - target FA PG trade Ed davis or Amir

PG - Deron Williams - Bayless
2G - DeRozen - Webster
SF - Johnson - Gilchrist
PF - Davis - Davis
C - Jonas - Vet FA

To Toronto: Desagana Diop, 2013 first round pick (protected, via Portland).

To Charlotte: Leandro Barbosa, Solomon Alabi, 2013 second round pick, cash (if necessary).

For Toronto, they simply do not need Barbosa going off on teams and giving them more wins. Toronto is in full tank mode, and in this deal get a solid pick for the future, and a semi serviceable stop-gap big man until Jonas V is ready (even though they signed Magloire, you can never have too many big men). We haven't seen much of Alabi yet, and there has been talk that he has made great strides this off-season, but until we get proof, he is still nothing really special.

For Charlotte, whenever you have Corey Maggette as your first option, you know you need help in the scoring department. Barbosa is a very strong scorer inside and out, he can slash, play a bit of the point, come off the bench, whatever you need. Again, there has been talk that Alabi is much improved, so in that case he will be an upgrade over Diop. Both Barbosa and Alabi are expiring, and to top it off they get what is likely to be a very high second round pick, and some cash incentive as well.

Anyone ever think of this,
Raptors trade:
Calderon
A. Johnson
Kleiza
Wizards trade:
Lewis
Then we use the amnesty clause.
Or use players we don't need for a player who is on a massive contract. Then use the amnesty clause. I don't like Amir as I believe we have enough young big men but you could take him off for someone else. A good way to get rid of Calderon?
