I'm still anticipating a vet's minimum signing by Williams or he'll gave the Knicks every last chance to give him the $2.5m eventually.

I tend to agree with you here.

He's hopeful (waiting) he may get the $2.5M -- but may end up settling for the vet min.

I don't think the Knicks want to give him the $2.5M --- don't think they trust giving him a longer term deal --- I don't.

He's only 6'5"? With TD, Bibby, Shumpert, Fields, Walker and possibly BDiddy, don't we need more size? Or is he tall enough for PF for D'Antoni?

Plus he's 33 (edit)....Probably not a big difference, but I'd prefer Purp.

I wonder if Purp getting into brawls has anything to do with it? Dolan can be spiteful like that. Not really sure why we would look at Mo over Purp....
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone
SG: Vassell | Trent | Livingston
PG: Spida | Mann | Deuce

For the record Id sign Purp over Mo too, but Mo isnt a bad guy to fill out the roster. Who knows what the hell is going on with Purp. Hes waitin on us.

Well supposedly the 2.5mn offer has been on the table for a while for purp. It's his to sign, but the Knicks can't sit around either.

-Trade Bill Walker for a cheap PG.
-Give Purp 2.5 / 2 years
-Sign Mo Evans for vet minimum

He has no good reason to settle for the vet min when other teams are vying for his services. The Knicks aren't the type of team in the league where you can risk taking a paycut knowing that they'll trade you at the drop of a hat for Chris Paul or whoever the flavor of the month is at the moment.

If I was Purp, unless the Knicks are offering me the Room Exception, I'd take a contract with another team rather than signing with the Knicks for the minimum.

He can go ahead and sign for another team for money, nobody will blame him.

But he does have a role and is a good fit for the Knicks. There is no guarantee he will fit in with another team. he could easily end up out of the league again.

Yeah... Purp gets the exception if no other better option is available and Mo gets nothing, no need for Mo. Sure he's burned the Knicks in the past but only in the SOTN capacity... this year's Brick Mason? No thanks.

If you can shoot the lights out from three and defend multiple positions, you have a role on just about any team in the league.

Purp can defend but only defend the 4 and 4-like players. Short centers or slow SFs, size and speed are things he can't handle.

Basically Shawne Williams can only guard Shawne Williams.

So basically, on defense he is a pure power forward.

Shawne tries hard as hell on defense. I remember him playing LeBron pretty tough when he was put on him.

Yes, basically. He tries hard and has his moments against players out of his defendable range but he's not a regular solution for that type of role.

Stop this non sense we need to sign Williams as soon as possible, he's our main back-up SF and PF. Evans is cool but not before Williams and he is not worth the whole $2.5 million. Give it to Williams and sign Arenas(vet min) who is better than Evans. Evans won"t play even in front of Shumpert . Fields starts, Arenas or Shumpert backs him up(Bibby rarely see the court). Then go after some veteran bigs Leon Powe, Craig Smith, S.Novak, Brian Cook, R.Hollins, H.Armstrong, Solomen Jones etc.. to add depth behind Amar'e. Maybe B.Davis signs and we are done. That's a Finals Squad, Tough.

Melo/Williams/Walker
Stats/Powe/Jorts
Chandler/Jeffries/Jordan
Fields/Arenas/Shumpert
BDavis/TD/Bibby
