Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
Q Miller could use another year. Barnes is just really...overrated. I was warming up to him but these past few games have been very underwhelming. I really regret jumping on the bandwagon.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Unless Drummond is available, Im taking Gilchrist to the bank.
What?

Agree on Miller.
Barnes still looks like a good bet to be an NBA starter to me, but he may be a 6'8 OJ Mayo or at least share his degenerative talent disease.

Barnes is a ludicrisly overrated prospect.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

It's at the point where, even if he goes on a great run like Demar did near the end of his college year, it still wouldn't make much of a difference. This is his 2nd year he should be killing it. Outside of impressive pull up jumpers I don't see anything to get excited about. Passing, defense, rebounds, improved ball handling, all non existent

Seriously baffling....
I'm glad to see some posters finally jumping off the Barnes' Bandwagon but this guy should be at best be 4th place for votes. His ceiling really appears to be the Joe Johnson of SFs.

Forget Joe Johnson, this guy is the second coming of Marvin Wlliams. All my arguments defending him this summer went up in a puff of smoke

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
My perception on barnes is not going to change during the 1st month & a half in his 2nd yr. He's still putting up decent stats & doing it on one of the best teams in the country. He's hitting 1.5 threes a game, getting to the line 5x a game, and has 8stls in 10 games. He's still the best wing option in this draft outside of maybe lamb at the sg spot. The tourney doesn't even start till march its mid december...

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
Barnes does nothing incredibly well than shoot spot-up and pull-up jumpshots which to say he is very, very impressive. But for a Raptors team that lacks an all-around wing, Barnes isn't a prospect the franchise should be targeting. He's got an NBA-ready frame, so that's nice. Only thing I don't get is the hype for Jeremy Lamb. You have some that are saying he's going to be an All-Star or be the next Dwyane Wade/Brandon Roy. Like, really? His shot creating ability is only a bit better than Barnes.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

I'd say he's quite a bit better at creating, but more importantly his pull up jumper is much better imo.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
I do agree with some hype about Lamb....but not to the degree of some posters.
To me he has the potential (keyword) to maybe reach the level of someone like Brandon Roy with a lot IFs down that path but that's what makes him an exciting prospect. I can see him reaching the level of guys like Gordon and DeRozan but he has a little something extra (namely ape arms) that make take him a slight level above.
What I don't see is the reference to potentially being at the level of Wade or Kobe...imo he just doesn't have that "dominator" quality about him. He can step and hit some key shots like Roy but he doesn't seem to control a game or a team like those guys nor do I think he will have it in him to be a near 30ppg scorer. The only SG prospect that I see MAY potentially have that in him is Shabazz Mohammed but we'll see if he's still as dominant in college.
