I think Charlotte and Toronto have less talent than us, but we'll be the worst team in the league if we keep on playing D like we did 2 nights ago.

Let's just all agree that we'll be in the bottom 5 again, that's a safe bet. I do think Minny & Cleveland will be better than us.

See, I don't think Young adds wins. Or, at very least, he'll add as many losses as he adds wins. I think Young is significantly overrated by fans. I don't think he makes a difference.

He signed the QO. Per Michael Lee.

Yup. 3.7mil for this upcoming season, then an unrestricted free agent.
Michael Lee wrote:Restricted free agent shooting guard Nick Young is in the process of catching a red-eye flight from Los Angeles to Washington and is expected to sign his one-year, $3.7 million qualifying offer with the Wizards on Monday, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

Glad to have him back in the fold... Without him, forget wins, we'd just not have enough shooting to even make games interesting.
I'd give this a "meh" if we weren't just so darn hopeless without him. Win or lose, I'd like to think we can enjoy a bit of basketball this year.

I was hoping for Nate's Nick on a front-loaded contract plan but oh well.

I'm just thankful we didn't overpay him or commit long-term salary. With this, my fears for the offseason are allayed. We are done in FA and didn't screw up. Good job meeting my low expectations, EG!

Gotta say overall decent offseason for Ernie. The draft, signing shooters Young, Mason & Evans at low cost, picking up Turiaf & a 2nd rounder in trade, keeping Lewis... all look like good moves to me.

So does this set them up for a sign and trade during the year?
Or if they so feel, can they extend him during the year ?
To bad they couldnt have drafted Brooks. If Nick walks for nothing after this year, they just opened up another hole in the roster. Signing him to the 1 yr QO was not one of the outcomes I wanted to see. But a smart move by Nick.

Good job by Ernie! An offseason with no added long term obligations outside of the rookie deals is a very good offseason indeed.
Now let the lottery ball counting commence.

I guess a welcome home bean is in order.
I'm sure McGee has some Cinnamon and a huge hug waiting for him.

And aside from Wall and McGee, we've got essentially no significant long-term assets. He hasn't screwed up, but as usual - he's done nothing to improve the future of the organization.

This is my sentiment too. That's great we will have cap flexibility NEXT year. I'd like to watch some good games this year.

Young for 1 year at the QO is certainly better than paying him $9M a year, but I really wish they could have worked out a 2 year $10M deal. The problem is that QO contracts can't be traded. He is no longer an asset.
Oh well. Not much EG could have done. If Young's agent was that out of touch with reality, what options did EG have?

+1 I really would like like to know what kind of offer we had on the table. In hindsight, if Ernie had known that we could face next season without a significant scoring threat, would he have drafted differently?
