DH: “There’s no need to get frustrated at what happened tonight. It’s the first game that we’ve played in seven months. So we’re going to be rusty. We’re gonna miss shots. We’re gonna make mistakes. But we have to stick together.”
Does he even realize how that sounds when you are asking to be traded?

Dwight Howard had a bad game. That happens. His hypocritical attempts at leadership are something else
Ouch!
.During the fourth quarter, a group of rookies and training camp free agents plus Udonis Haslem rattled off a huge run against three Magic starters and top reserves Ryan Anderson and J.J. Redick. During a timeout, veteran Quentin Richardson implored his teammates to wake up, pointing to the scoreboard and reminding them of who was the competition at the time. Howard, who had mercifully been pulled by that time, stood outside the huddle chewing on his shirt.
Afterward in the locker room he did speak, apparently.
"I told the guys we're in this together … we're going to stay on the path to win a championship," Howard said. "Like I told the guys, at the present time we're all on the same team and we're all in this together. Until that changes, we should go out and play hard every night."
What exactly Howard's teammates were thinking as he talked like he was actually interested in being on the same path with them or that he's in it together with them was not available for public consumption. Just know that Howard has publicly demanded a trade away from these teammates twice since the start of training camp

That simple. I don't see how we're going to do that. And right now, we aren't the Mavericks with one star and several great role players. And... Dwight ain't Dirk in the clutch.
Agree,But we are not getting Ellis,Iggy,Gay,etc...,I hate when Magic fans think we can get a star when we don't have anything to offer. So just trade Dwight now so we can start rebuilding.
What do you mean, "we"?
Didn't you admit to being a Dwight fan, and not a Magic fan? The only reason you want him traded is so you can follow him to NJ, and change your name to The Nets Man.
Everything you say regarding this team has little to no merit.

I think Howard wants the Nets. why?
-He wants to play with a passing PG, Deron Williams is there.
-Remember when Howard when to Russia, he went with Nets dancers.
-Anthony Morrow(Nets player) on his wishlist.
-Deron Williams interview, if I remember he said he was communicating with Howard.
-The whole Miami meeting.
-The permission to talk with Nets front office.
-Howard doesn`t want to follow Shaq footsteps.

Miami columnist taking a shot at a local rival's best player. What a shock. What's even funnier is that he wants to take a shot at Dwight's "hypocrisy" (which may or may not be valid) while he leached off Lebron for 7 years in Cleveland, before following James when he jumped ship. I mean, the guy is making his career off the player who basically started this whole ring-chasing, ship-jumping, super-friending culture we find ourselves in the middle of, but is taking pot shots at a guy who is taking a similar path.
Re: Dwight, maybe the rest of the Magic players are privately upset and rolling their eyes at him right now. However, what he says is basically true - until such time as he is traded or walks as a free agent, they are still a team, it is still a group effort, and they do have to work together.
Finally, loving me some Q-Rich. I always liked how he was ready to play at a moment's notice last year, even when he had been out of the rotation for a couple of games. Always played hard, always focused on D, consummate pro. We need every player on our team to have the same attitude.

Aparently, Dwight is trying to maintain his trade value as being a team person.

I wonder how long will it take...
he obviously wants to go...
I hope Otis is not going to wait till strict trade deadline or Lakers and Nets will try to screw us even more...

It appears that Janeero Pargo just got waived by CHI: http://blogs.suntimes.com/bulls/2011/12 ... aived.html
MIght be a cheap option for Backup PG, if Otis doesn't have to keep attempting to justify his Duhon signing by shoving minutes down his throat. (For the record, I dunno if Otis makes Stan give Duhon backup minutes, or if Stan is forced to do it based on roster makeup)

Brian "Lebron made my career" Windhorst is trying to attack Dwight's leadership? Wow.

This team needs a real leader and a point guard, this offense can be painful to watch

Exactly! They were the only bright spot from last night going into the season. They will be a great 1, 2 punch coming off bench. JJ really surprised me. Gave me hope about him.
After watching last night, if Hedo can stay healthy and is still here....I'd like to see him be the primary ball handler/distributor and let JRich and Jameer do the the jumping shooting from his passing.

Man........we are slowly becoming the laughing stock of the league.
Our President drunk dialing our star player, and then "retiring".
Our star player demanding a trade.
Our 22 game Pre-season streak ends with us getting slaughtered by America's Bad Guys....
It's almost starting to feel like we're switching spots with the Clippers.

You all know that BVW drunk dialed after Dwight told the Magic that he wanted to be traded. I don't think BVW didn't want to be part of two of the best Centers in recent history bailing on the organization. Everyone can blow smoke up Alex Martins butt too. That dude was here when Shaq came and went also. Neither of them is a game changer as president.

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part IX)
we need to trade dwight asap before this gets real ugly. people will start to side with dwight after seeing how bad his teamates are. its sad that the only move otis could make was to get bbd. Our best option for us is to rebuild through next years draft. I'd like for us to have 3 1st rd picks with one being a lottery pick. We should not trade for wallace. i guess i do bynum and gasol and flip gasol to minny for a draft pick and beasley

Oh no doubt.
I hate to say it, but there's pretty much no doubt that he knew, and did a poor job of hiding it.

Relying on the draft only to rebuild is risky, especially with our history of drafting. Yeah, we got lucky with Howard but he was drafted BEFORE Otis. What if we get this years Oden or Kwame and Darko and leave the next Durant or Carmelo still on the board? No faith in Otis in picking the right guys.

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part IX)
Rebuilding through the draft is such a gamble. Everyone would have taken Greg Oden over Durant a few years ago. Who knew? Imagine if Portland had drafted Durant. They would be a championship caliber team. But Oden was the consensus number one pick. The Magic gambled on Dwight in '04 because most scouts had Okafur ranked as the better player. What if Detroit took Wade or Melo over Darko.
My point is you can even make mistakes at the top of the draft regardless of who your GM is.

If you wanna build right, the first step is getting rid of otis
