Nick Young, 1yr #Wizards deal in hand, said he'll take it out on league: "I’m not going to sit back and pout. Nobody owes nobody nothing."

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Hmmm....

I wonder what the Wiz offered Nick.

My guess would be about 5 years, 30-32 million.

And given how much big men are making these days, you just know that some idiotic GM next year will offer Javale 10-12 mil based on his highlight plays and potential, which i doubt Ernie will match. There's a good chance that both Nick and Javale won't be back next season.

Horrible deal. This guy has had 1 year with a PER over 11 and you pay him over $8 million a year? W T F

To be fair to Nick, that's what he's thinking too. :P

New Jersey Nets Rookie MarShon Brooks Could Be Surprise Rookie of the Year

MarShon Brooks may not be projected to win the Rookie of the Year with top draft picks Kyrie Irving, Ricky Rubio and Derrick Williams looking to be forces right out of the gate.

However, with the combination of ample playing time, a strong point guard and a variety of scoring abilities, he could easily lead all rookies in scoring and surprise the NBA and become Rookie of the Year.

Nets like what they see from Marshon Brooks after pro debut

Ask Avery Johnson about MarShon Brooks’ professional debut, and the question brings an instant smile to the Nets coach’s face.

“He was just what we wanted,” Johnson said Saturday after Brooks scored 10 points in 14:38 off the bench in the Nets’ 92-83 loss to the rival Knicks at the Prudential Center. “Being able to make plays off the dribble … we didn’t have that last year. Exactly what we want; we want him to be able to make plays off the dribble — I don’t even mind if he takes a bad shot. I want him to be aggressive.”

We have Nick back, but Marshon Brooks was one player I thought the Wizards could draft and allow Nick to walk. Did not like the potential character issues of Klay Thompson, the other main candidate to have replaced Nick via the draft. Here's what his NBA coach had to say:

http://articles.sfgate.com/2011-12-14/s ... gton-state

Klay Thompson makes solid 1st impression

It took all of one practice, and Warriors head coach Mark Jackson was ready to make a lofty proclamation about rookie Klay Thompson:

"Klay is ready today. He's ready today. He's a big-time talent," Jackson said. "I've seen coaches who would never play rookies, but that's not my train of thought. Klay Thompson will play right away. There's no question about it. He's that good".

I guess there will be similar options available via the draft next season. Just seems to me the Wizards have played it safe and possibly have kept a player who they need to allow to grow or to earn his money elsewhere; when they could have also have replaced the player with a rookie who might be better.

We shall see.

I still think the right thing to do was trade both picks + McGee to Minny for the 2nd pick. I think DWill is going to be a big time scorer.

At this point of the year, every rookie looks promising. We'll see.

Nick with a brain.

It would have been perfect.

But they went in a different direction. They went for D.

One could argue that it's more important to draft offensive players, since scoring is generally overpaid for.

One could also argue that with Wall, having actual weapons would make us mediocre too fast, so we had to cripple ourselves for one more year.

Well, there is some sense in that strategy.

Also, keep in mind, Vesely was coming in behind Dray at PF. He wasn't coming in to play SF. If that's where they are slotting him, that makes a difference. So if KS can beast under the boards this year, you now could have your future PFs. One smooth. One power.

Move Dray to center and see if Hamady can back him up.

Sadly, I think McGee may have to go. I guess we will get to see more this year. The kid just doesn't have the smarts to playing defense at the center spot and it's hard to have a good team without that covered. He would be great off the bench, but I don't think he will want to settle for that. Sadly if McGee is going to grow up, he may have to do it someplace else.

Wall/Craw/Mack
Nick/Mo Evans/Mason
Singleton/Lewis/Owens
Vesely/Booker/Seraphin
Dray/McGee/Ronny/Hamady

Then you can focus on SG, depending on Nick, and SF since Lewis will be gone.

How Ves and Singleton play this year will matter a lot. Singleton could end up being starter quality if he can hit that outside shot.

I think for the good of team chemistry, I would get ride of McGee. If nick rounds out his game, they may want to keep him. You can keep Dray and Nick. It is just hard to have McGee along with them.

Easily the craziest signing of the offseason. A shooting guard who averaged less than 13 points a game... and sure he's a good defender, but... Put it this way - last offseason, Portly gave Wes Matthews a contract I thought was way too high - at 5/27. In comparison, he's a better all-around player than Afflalo, and he's significantly cheaper.

So true. Even with the rookies that look horrible, were told it's early, give them time.

I've said this like a broken record lately, but a lot of conclusions are being jumped to with very little data. Wow, Marshon Brooks scored 10 pts in 13 minutes of a preseason game, everyone better watch out!

Trevor Booker scored in double figures (3 times in his first 39 games)
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... elog/2011/

James Anderson scored 10 points in his debut(that was the only time last season)
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... elog/2011/

While I think James Anderson has potential to be a good NBA player, it is clear that Booker had a far better rookie season.
