Dwight Howard now has a fourth team on his wish list: The Los Angeles Clippers.
SheridanHoops.com learned exclusively Monday that Howard recently expanded his list of preferred future destinations, adding the Clippers to a list that already included the Nets, the Mavericks and the Lakers.
“He’s been watching them a lot. He’s intrigued by the Clippers,” said the source, who is privy to the trade talks that have taken place between all of the aforementioned teams. http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2012/01/16 ... -clippers/
And now the story flips and they aren't on his list. I can sum up the list for the media to save Dwight future questions.
1) He wants to go to either New York or Los Angeles to increase his advertising potential as well as expand his post career options.
2) He wants to play on a winning team with another superstar.
3) He like a trade so that he doesn't have to accept less salary to move.
4) He doesn't want a team to gut itself to get him because it would defeat the point in moving.
5) He doesn't want to perceived as a bad guy for wanting a better situation so good luck with getting clear consistent answers in the media.
6) He'd accept Dallas because of its ownership in spite of not being a media mecca.
If I'm Orlando I play chicken with him creating a financial difference between the contract the Magic can offer him and any other team even in a S&T (new cba rules). If he develops the stones to become disliked by his current fanbase and accept less money then he can choose between the Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks as the 2 teams with cap room next summer. Likely he doesn't opt out and the circus continues for another year. Not sure who is able to buy the following summer. If he has faith that the money he loses in salary could be made up for in endorsements in the right situation then he'd probably bolt, but we aren't there yet.
