Arsenal apparently in talks over the sale of Chamakh and Arshavin. Would certainly need to buy an attacker then. Matias Suarez transfer delayed until summer now. Maybe we'll have better luck with our next targets Fabian Gotze and Thorgan Hazard. ;)

Chelsea being linked with Eden Hazard now. That would be interesting for sure. Hazard on the left, push Mata into the middle, Sturridge on the right. That's a pretty dynamic front line with Drogba up front.

Never been a fan of Rodwell. Not the type of player Chelsea needs either. Hazard would be awesome though

Love Rodwell, really has a lot of Lampard in his pomp in him. While I agree to degree that we don't need him right now, but I'll argue that we are building for the future and he certainly brings that, and since our midfield 3 tends to have 2 box-to-box midfielders, I think a Rodwell-Ramires-Romeu midfield can cause some MAJOR damage for years to come. (Loving the 3 R's!)

Finally, Cahill signs with Chelsea

Would love to get Hazard, if we don't go for Rodwell we can move Mata to the middle because of this move and him out wide with Sturridge and Torres as our front 3 would be exciting as hell.

Midfield of 2 defensive midfielders and 1 box-to-box midfielder consisting of Rodwell, Romeu and Ramires would put way too much pressure on Mata to create. People criticize Lamps for being unimaginative, but that trio combined has less goals and creativity in them than Lampard alone. We already have enough depth in the two positions with Romeu, Ramires, Mikel, Meireles, Essien and Chalobah coming up. Hell, I'd rather play Luiz at DM than give Everton what they want for Rodwell.

As for Hazard, I agree that Mata should bed moved to the middle in that case. Constant switching of Mata, Hazard and Sturridge should be fun to watch. Hazard + Cahill + McEachran loan to Swansea this window would be awesome - cheaper than Torres too

^I'm more in the assumption that we bring in both Hazard and Rodwell. Play him and Mata in the wing and Torres up front (Had a great game yesterday, unfortunate not to score) with Sturridge as the second striker which would (unfortunately) mean the end of Drogba. Not really drooling with creativity, but with Torres and Sturridge (and to an extent Drogba) enjoy dropping back to the midfield, having two players with great energy to expose that space in behind could be lethal, also helps they can put a tackle in on the other end.

Oh crap, completely forgot about Essien (I know, how dare I do that?!) To be fair having Romeu and Mikel occupying the DM role, and having Rodwell, Lampard, Meireles, Ramires and Essien in the CM role is a good to have, especially since we can put Essien as a DM too. Still not convinced Chalobah is a DM, I think he can learn a lot from Cahill being here now, I see a lot of similarity between the two.

Don't really count Rodwell as a DM, he plays that way for Everton since that's their system (as evidenced when they play Heitinga-Fellaini midfield for the majority of the season thus far) but if we do get him no doubt in my mind him and Ramires would run marathons each game, I think that's one thing we are lacking is a bit of energy late in the game which only Ramires has been able to provide this season so far.

Also, saw on Sky Sports this morning there was a rumor suggesting a Torres-Modric swap. It's since been shot down by Harry but how awesome that would've been?!

That would have been a dream come true, but Tottenham can't afford Torres' wages anyway

They are reporting in Colombia that Liverpool is interested in Jackson Martinez. Is this true?

Things have gotten to the point where if Modric goes elsewhere, it'll be for money alone. So i think he'll be staying for at least another season.

I'd take Torres in a heartbeat, poor form and all. I wish we could afford him.

BBC guy reporting Hazard to Chelsea will be done by the end of the week. If he does go, and we weren't in for him at all, I'll be kind of pissed. Doesn't matter if he costs 30 Mil, we'll get it back when we sell him to Madrid, City, or Barca in a few years.

Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Freiburg striker Papiss Demba Cisse, according to reports.

Cisse, 26, has been in superb goalscoring form for his Bundesliga side this season, netting nine times in 17 league starts.

And it is being reported Newcastle have agreed an undisclosed fee, said to be £10 million, with the forward's club ahead of talks over a contract on Tyneside.

Nice to see Newcastle spend some more but I hope they aren't buying this guy to sell Demba Ba.

Also QPR are signing Henrique from Santos.

"I know a lot of clubs are interested in me. But when I spoke to Mark Hughes and QPR, they made me feel very excited about their plans," Henrique is quoted as saying in The Sun. "I want to go to a club with ambition and to play in London would be a fantastic opportunity.

"The manager is known everywhere. He played for great clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona. As a striker, I know I can learn so much from him. I've always wanted to play in Europe and, for me, England has the most exciting league in the world."

Galatasaray trying to sign Basel's youngster Xherdan Shaqiri, but they probably won't be successful.

Apparently Chelsea closing in on a £25 million move for Hazard.

I can't see Hazard being available for 25 Mil in January with Chelsea as the only interested club, doesn't make any sense.

I agree. Something feels off about that one.

Now, if rumors started circulating that Tottenham were about to pick up Hazard for 25 mil, that would be believable. :D

Edit: Jokes aside, fielding Hazard-Mata-Sturridge ahead of Lampard is just about the best way possible to marginalize him. Not that Chelsea fans seem to care at this point.

Definitely, but my god I hope it's true.

You would think all the top teams would be fighting over Hazard if there was a chance he could move.
