Ok, Lets do the math!

We will have better records than Washington, Charlotte, Detroit, Toronto, New Jersey, Milwaukee (Maybe), New Orleans, Sacramento, Golden State (maybe), and Minnesota (maybe)

We are better than 7 teams for sure and 3 teams are a maybe depending on a variety of factors. That puts are best pick at number 8 and our worst pick at 11. Therefore, we are most likely picking between 8-11! Unless we win the lotto....NO Drummond, NO Davis, NO barnes.

The draft pool of guys we should be looking at are :
John Henson
Mike Gilchrist
Terrence Jones
Brad Beal
Cody Zeller
Quincy Miller
Jeremy Lamb
Terrence Ross
Arnett Moultrie

Not bad!! lets hope we do some heavy scouting, but it depends on if these guys declare....

I have a Q

When the draft begin this year?
When the lottery will be known?
How many picks Suns have? Just one and the other has Atlanta? Am i right if not please correct me.
As a nativ Pole i really hope Olek Czyż (Czyz) will be in a draft 2012. 8-) He is expected to be a 2nd rounder.

Will be glad if someone can anwer this :) :D

lottery comes sometime during the playoffs, draft is after the finals

I believe we have a second rounder from the Knicks in the Sta trade, though it barely countds as its top 55 protected. Ours went to ATL in the Childress deal

You are correct.

We will have a #8 - #14 1st round pick.

Our 2nd round is owned by Atlanta.

We get Knicks 2nd round (top 55 protected), so the Knicks have to finish in the top 4 for us to even get it.

The only teams most definitely finishing with worse records are Washington, Charlotte, Detroit, New Jersey and New Orleans.

Milwaukee, Golden State, Minnesota, Scramento could easily or even should easily be better than us still and Toronto will pick up some wins again with Bargnani while we could totally fall off if we finally DO THE RIGHT THING and start trading for future pieces.

With the #6-8 pick it is not that unlikely to move up into the top 3.

Nick (Wisconsin)

Chad, there was a ton of hype going into this season about how good this upcoming draft class was going to be, is it safe to say that NBA scouts agree with this assessment? I'm not sure if there's a franchise game changer like Rose, Durant or Griffin, but the quality in depth that exists for like 12-15 picks is pretty crazy. What is your opinion on this years' potential draft class so far?

Chad Ford (1:41 PM)

I think that hype has actually cooled down a bit. Don't get me wrong, scouts think it's a good draft. Anthony Davis has lived up to expectations, though scouts don't quite see him in the same group as a Dwight Howard or Derrick Rose franchise changer. The next tier with Andre Drummond, Harrison Barnes, Thomas Robinson and Perry Jones III are all super talented, but all have weaknesses that could keep them from being All-Stars some day. After that, there's talent, but I actually think the 2011 Draft may have gone a little deeper.

Non-sense. Dwight Howard was a unkown until a month before the draft and scouts questioned if he should even be the #1 pick.

Anthony Davis has way more hype and recognition than for example Blake Griffin also and we are not even close to march madness. These scouts will change their tune again. Every year the same non-sense. At the same time last year the draft was supposedly the worst ever, guess what...

Watching the Wash vs U of A game last night I was extremely impressed by Tony Wroten....6'5'' extremely quick..nice little J..athletic !!! If the suns pick is around 9, 10, or 11. I think we should give this guy a look if he comes out of college.

Kinda reminds me of westbrook when he was at UCLA

Nice thing this year is - you don't have to get #1 to draft a great young player. No BGriffiin type or Durant v. Oden argument - just a raft of real good young players. I really hope we find a way to get another pick

I think we need a shooting guard or a small forward first and foremost. Prospects I love for our pick are Brad Beal, Kidd-Gilchrist, Jeremy Lamb, or Harrison Barnes although realistically probably 3 out of 4 of those guys could be gone before the ninth pick. Also if we do want to look at a PG in this draft we need to acquire a pick later in the first round and see if we can get Kabongo, Kendall Marshall, little Teague, or Tony Wroten. People thought this was a pretty strong crop of PG's coming out of high school and odds are they aren't any where near close to playing to their full potential right now.

I remember long, long ago the Suns had the number 2 pick in the draft and I was so excited. They selected the original Hammer ... Armen Gilliam.

Turn out to be a flop for the Suns ... we traded him to the Charlotte Hornets for Kurt Rambis and two second round picks.

I'm worried Drummond is going to be the OJ Mayo if bigs, still living off his high school hype.

Everything I've seen about Wroten sounds very good. This is my point that we can get some very nice players outside the Major Hype top slots. Wroten can easily go in the early to mid second round
