You're right. Don't wait for him to develop. Trade him at his lowest value for a 2nd rond pick (that's his value right now). Smart.

I know the kid can't play offense right now but he gives you something defensively. I mean we waited years for Blatche, years for McGee, years for Young to develop. Everybody said give them time. We can't want another season for Vesely? Just because he's a 6th pick in a weak draft? Because he's a Euro? Give it a rest and call me next season at this time. If he's not a lot better, then he's near bust-territory. Maybe the new GM will hate him like some of you guys do.

if leonsis mandated that Vesely shoot 500 turn around jumpers a day until he reached 45 percent...Vesely would be deadly.
Vesely is a nightmare as a small forward with his size and he has already shown in international competition that he can hit post shots. If Vesely were allowed to back down in the mid post and shoot turn arounds over small forwards 5 inches shorter than him, he would be unstoppable.
He isn't a mismatch guarding small forwards and that is extremely rare for a 7 footer.
Singleton was always destined to be a back up, not a small forward, but vesely with much much practice... i just see a larry bird type small forward.
Larry Bird was one of the greatest so Vesely isn' going to reach Bird but if you train Vesely to hit turn around shots in the mid post now....Vesely will become a cornerstone of this team.

If you watch his raw mechanics and coordination...it just screams..develop a turn around mid range jumpshots...i easily see him being able to bang out the perimeter and get off a turn around with easy if only someone high up in the wizards organization had a vision of how to develop him and the power to guide his everyday regime.
Singleton...i see hitting the three on occassion but he doesn't have the mechanics over flexibility to even hit a reverse layup.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

Yeah, I've often thought that Vesely was just a turn-around jumpshot from being a Larry Bird type player.

Vesley played his best game of the year. The best part is that it looks like him and Wall have a bit of chemistry.

Vesely's form on his jumper is pretty nice. I'm hoping he can spend time at least honing a reliable jumper.

If they keep running the pick and roll with Wall and Ves or Wall and McGee, I think they can get something going.

PnR would create some offense for Ves.

Next he needs to learn how to stay balanced off contact when he is dribbling. That is a problem McGee had in spade early in his career and still does from time to time when he isnt doing a set move to the bucket.

Also important to note is how often Ves is getting on the court as a center. When he came in the game against Det, it was as a center. They line him up with McGee as PF and with Booker as center.

I haven't seen one play that was designed for vesely to catch and shoot...not one play forcing vesely to shoot a floater from three point line. Not one play designed for vesely to shoot a midrange turn around jumper. Same thing for singleton. This is why wiz are horrible. They don't give their young players offensive plays to expand their game.

Leonsis needs to get rid these coaches.

You do know that Vesely cannot shoot right...???

Yet his first two point for Wizards were from a looong jumpshot, nothing but net.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

In a total of 54 Euroleague games, Vesely shot 85-157 from the free throw line -- 54.1%. His last season was his worst -- 24-54, 44.4%.

Was very active, boxed out well, played good defense. Got his only field goal off a dunk. Quite frankly, I'm impressed with him so far. He has shown he can play in the league, the guy needs to work on his shooting, obviously, but the more he plays, the more I like what I'm seeing from him.

The 9 boards really impressed me. Jan seems like he's going to be the perfect glue guy. His box score isnt very impressive, but he was a big part of that win.

The speculation of him being a SF can definitely be laid to rest. Maybe one day if he learns to shoot. He'll be even better once he gets stronger.

Ves fouled-out, but provided a lot of energy and hustle against a Portland team that was missing it's best player. (Weak front-court w/o LA)

Ves really stands-out on a bad team that has had low bball IQ players for years. I like him, but I'd like him as a low lottery-pick high 2nd rounder a lot better than 6th pick in the draft given his current skill-set. Jan Vesley with a mid-range game would bump him up to being worthy of going 6th.

It's much easier to hide Vesely's weaknesses on offense when Wall is hitting the midrange jumper and Young and Crawford are lighting it up from the perimeter.

I like that we can use him as a C in an uptempo lineup.

In the halfcourt his main skill (which is important on this team)
is how well he plays the PnR. edit to add- on this team
and in this league, this is not a trivial skill to have.

He has shown signs of having a significant impact on
team defensive performance. Which leads to better
offensive performance as well.

He has played some at center lately to take advantage of his team defense. It seems to be working fairly well against centers who aren't big low post players.

Shout-out to Ruz. Did you see Markieff Morris post-up Ves, then hit both of his FT's after getting fouled by Ves? Ves had to go to the bench after that.
